I Made $900 Trillion In 24 Hours novel Chapter 12

Barnes heart skipped a beat when his wife delivered the bad news.

“What do you mean they destroyed our house?” Barnes asked, grabbing her shoulder and giving her a little shake.

His wife snapped angrily at him. “Are you deaf? Our home was demolished five minutes after you left. They said they were given orders and permission to demolish all our properties. As at this moment, they're currently demolishing our shopping complex. Do something, Barnes. They'd ruin us all.”

Barnes eyes widened in shock. He glanced at Barry and saw the seriousness in his eyes.

That was when he realized Barry wasn't fooling around.

“Barry, what have you done?”

Barry wore back his dark glasses. “I kept my promise to you, landlord. You never should have sold my sister in the first place. This is your punishment for your wickedness.”

Barnes owned the block of apartments which his twenty tenants lived in. He also owned a small shopping complex and a private house.

If what his wife was telling him was true, then this was a serious matter.

Barry lifted the boxes containing his sister's belongings and made for the door. “Well, then. I better get leaving. The demolition crew would be here any minute from now.”

One of the five men who came along with Barnes blocked him. “Hold on, kid. We can't just let you leave like that. You destroyed this man's home. You have to be stopped.”

Barry glared at the man. “I can't be stopped. No one can stop me. Here's a word of advice, stay out of my way. If you so much as lay a finger on me, I'll have my master crush not just you but your entire family.”

The man shivered under Barry's words. Common sense told him it wasn't worth it to cause any more trouble for Barry.

If Barry had the influence to destroy his former landlord's houses, what more damage was he capable of executing?

Without uttering another word, the man stepped aside, giving Barry free passage.

As Barry opened the door and stepped outside, the demolition crew arrived with their machines and equipment.

They had finished destroying both Barnes private home and his shopping complex.

All that was left was his block of apartments.

Barnes heart pounded hard against his ribs as he saw them preparing to demolish his block of apartments into rumbles.

Barnes ran out of the house like a madman, waving his hands at the demolition crew in a state of panic.

“Hey, this is my house,” he shouted. “You can't just demolish it. I can sue your company for unlawful destruction of all my properties.”

A man in a hard hat approached Barnes with a file document. “I guess you'll have to take it up with the Phoenix Bank. We were paid and given government approval to demolish all your properties, mister.”

Barnes snatched the papers and feverishly scanned his eyes over every single detail.

He realized he couldn't fight this in court. The permit was legit and sealed with approval from both the government and the Phoenix Bank.

Barnes swallowed as sweats ran down his face like rain.

All the blood in Barnes face drained away.

His entire life was in that house. Now it's about to be destroyed.

Barry entered the back seat of the taxi cab and shut the door after him. “Take me out of this place,” Barry told the cab driver.

Barnes wanted to beg Barry, but the cab driver engaged gear and raced out of the premises, leaving Barnes gaping after Barry.

“Shit!” Barnes swore under his breath, clawing at his hair. “What have I done to myself? I'm finished.”

The machines continued to destroy Barry's former apartment bit by bit until there was nothing left but a mountain of rubble and dust.

Barnes sank his knees to the hard ground, his eyes filled with tears and his entire body shivering with regrets.

He bited his lips so hard he tasted blood. There was nothing he could do. He was now homeless.

As the demolition crew packed up and left, Barnes wife walked up to him and slapped him across the face.

“You bastard,” She shouted at him. “How could you let this happen to us? It's over. I want a divorce.”

Barnes felt his entire world shattered to a million pieces.

He regretted ever selling Snow.
