I Made $900 Trillion In 24 Hours novel Chapter 18

After a delicious dinner, Barry patted Snow on the shoulder.

“Snow, you're in high school now. I'm sure you've missed plenty of classes,” Barry said. “Starting tomorrow, you're starting school again.”

Snow jumped to her feet in excitement. “Really?”

Barry smiled. “And that's not all,” he brought out an admission paper. “You've just been accepted to school in Elite High school in North Hills.”

Snow eyes widened in surprise as she read the paper. “Brother, Elite High school is the most exclusive and expensive school in the entire country. How in heaven's name did you managed to enroll me in it?”

Barry wasn't just lazing around these past few days.

During his leisure time, he made arrangements with Hobbs to register Snow under a fake scholarship to Elite High school.

This scholarship was sponsored by an imaginary foundation Barry made up, but that was the easy part.

The difficult part was beating the Ranking System.

Despite having unimaginable wealth, Barry was still E-Rank–the lowest rank in North Hills.

Barry refused to upgrade to S-Rank because by doing so, he would attract a lot of unnecessary attention to himself.

In order to keep his peaceful life going, Barry chose to remain an E-Rank.

This gave him an advantage to maneuver easily and live in peace without anyone trying to scam or trouble him.

However, in Snow's case, an E-Rank is never accepted into Elite High school.

The school was built for Elite families to enroll their kids.

A C-Rank has no chance in heaven or hell to be accepted into the school unless they upgraded.

So Barry beat the ranking system by upgrading Snow to B-Rank under the guise of scholarship.

An upgrade costs $10 million, but Barry didn't bat an eyelid when he paid for it.

“Actually, I spoke to my boss about my concern for your education, and he told me not to worry about it,” Barry lied to Snow. “Before I knew it, he call and told me he had processed your acceptance into Elite High school.”

Snow couldn't believe her ears. “That's insane. He's willing to do all that, for me?”

Barry nodded, glad she was taking his lies too well.

Snow placed both hands on her head in disbelief. “But brother, I'm an E-Rank.”

“Already taken care of,” Barry handed her new identification card to her. “You're Rank-B250.”

There were 249 B-Rank individuals in the entire country and Snow just made it 250 which meant she's the least B-Rank member.

This works well for Barry as she wouldn't draw too much attention to herself.

Snow started shedding tears.

It was tears of joy. “Brother, I'm speechless. I don't know how to thank your new boss. When is he coming back? I need to thank him for his kindness. This is too much.”

Barry held her close. “It's alright, Snow. I'll send your regards to him. Soon you'll meet him. I promise you.”

Suddenly, ZEUS interrupted their sober moment.

“You have an incoming call, Sir.”

Barry rose to his feet. “I'll take it. Wait, here Snow.”

Barry left Snow at the dining room and walked to the living room where he pulled out his earbuds from his smart wristwatch.

“Really?” Barry clenched his jaw. “He didn't mention that.”

“Of course he won't,” Laura laughed spitefully. “That's because he's trying to hide his true nature. Look, Barry is a snake. He's not the good person you think he is. It's all an act to deceive you.”

Barry couldn't believe Laura would stoop so low to discredit him, even to his imaginary boss.

“Tell me more about Barry,” Barry urged her on. “I'm interested in finding out more about him, especially from his previous employer.”

Laura chuckled over the line. “With pleasure, sir.”

Laura spent the next fifteen minutes cooking up ridiculous and fake lies about Barry.

She even went as far as calling Barry a pedophile. She falsely accused him of having intimate relationship with his sister.

The more Laura spoke, the more angrier Barry felt towards her.

The straw that broke the camel's back was when she accused him of sleeping with his sister.

That was unforgivable. Barry swore inwardly to make Laura pay.

“I suggest you kick him out before he shows you his true colours, Mr… I'm sorry I didn't grab your name," Laura said.

“King,” Barry answered. “The name is King. Thank you for this piece of information. I'll take drastic actions immediately.”

“Why don't you come to the white mansion for dinner tomorrow?” Laura invited. “All my family would be there to celebrate the opening. I would appreciate it if you come.”

“I'll think about it,” Barry hung up the call. It took him a great deal of effort not to yell at her over the phone.

Laura has crossed the line. It's time he taught her a bitter lesson.
