**TITLE: The Attention 373**
**Chapter 373 Trip**
The following day, Yvaine decided to drop by for lunch at the studio, her presence always a breath of fresh air.
As we settled into our usual banter, the conversation flowed effortlessly, touching on trivial matters and light-hearted anecdotes. Yet, amidst the laughter, I sensed a shift in her demeanor. She paused, allowing the atmosphere to settle before finally saying, “By the way, Mira, there’s something I’ve been meaning to discuss with you.”
Curiosity piqued, I looked up from my plate, intrigued. “What is it?”
Her eyes sparkled with excitement. “I’m contemplating a little getaway, just to unwind and recharge. Would you like to join me?”
“A trip?” I echoed, a flicker of hesitation crossing my mind.
The truth was, I hadn’t ventured beyond the confines of my routine in what felt like an eternity. The idea of traveling felt both exhilarating and daunting. Could I even afford to take time off?
Earlier that very day, I had dared to step outside the studio for a brief moment, only to be pulled back by Ashton’s lengthy lecture about the dangers of the world outside. The thought of being trailed by bodyguards during a trip was enough to make me reconsider. The image of a parade of stern-faced men shadowing my every move made the prospect of a vacation seem less appealing.
Under Yvaine’s hopeful gaze, however, I found myself shaking my head, the weight of my decision heavy on my heart.
“Not coming?” she asked, her voice laced with genuine disappointment. “Why not? You used to revel in going out. Please don’t say it’s because of your pregnancy.”
With a deep sigh, I replied, “You already know the answer to that.”
“You’re anxious about Ashton and all those guards,” Yvaine stated, her tone knowing. A smile crept across her face as she added, “If that’s the issue, leave it to me. I promise it’ll just be the two of us.”
“Really?” I asked, a glimmer of hope igniting within me.
Yvaine nodded with unwavering confidence. “You’ll see. Tomorrow, your husband will be more than happy to let you come along.”
“If he agrees, then I’m in,” I replied, feeling a rush of excitement.
“Deal! Now, finish your lunch. You’re looking so thin; how will my godson and goddaughter grow up strong?”
“Your godson?” I raised an eyebrow, a smile tugging at my lips.
“Absolutely! I’m claiming the title of godmother. Don’t even think about refusing me.”
I didn’t dare to argue.
I still can’t quite comprehend what Yvaine did, but somehow, she managed to convince Ashton to allow me to accompany her on this adventure.
It wasn’t until later that I discovered he actually owned the resort we were headed to, which meant I was still very much under his roof and supervision.
But at that moment, I was simply ecstatic to be going anywhere outside my usual confines.
With a childlike enthusiasm, I packed my bags, my heart racing with anticipation. Soon enough, the driver dropped me off at Yvaine’s home.
As the car rolled to a stop outside her gate, I looked up to see Yvaine engaged in a tense standoff with a man I didn’t recognize.
The moment the vehicle came to a halt, both of them turned their heads toward me, their expressions shifting from tense to momentarily surprised.
The man’s face was inscrutable, his grip on a suitcase loosening slightly as he noticed my arrival.
