I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra) novel Chapter 100

My heart leaped into my throat, certain he was about to retaliate. But before I could say a word, his body went limp, and he collapsed on top of me.

“Steven?” I pushed him off and sat up. He was unconscious, a gash on his forehead where I’d hit him. I had swung with deadly intent; he’d left me no choice. I glanced at his face. Even in his flushed, unconscious state, his brow was furrowed in discomfort. He had been fighting for control.

My gaze drifted down his body. He was still… very much affected by the drug. Steven had stamina, and now he was on an aphrodisiac. If I didn’t do something, he might actually die.

I pulled my torn clothes back on, shoved him off the bed, and grunting with effort, dragged him into the bathroom. I heaved him into the tub and turned on the cold water. “You owe me so much, Steven,” I panted, exhausted. “When we divorce, I’m asking for ten million, at least.”

Back in the bedroom, I set the AC to a more reasonable 25 degrees, climbed into bed, and fell into a deep sleep.

I was woken by a sharp kick that sent me tumbling onto the floor. I shot to my feet, disoriented. “What’s happening? Is there a fire? An earthquake?”

My voice trailed off. Steven was standing before me, fully dressed and looking impeccable. His handsome face was cold and severe, but his eyes were clear. He was back to normal.

The fog of sleep vanished, replaced by a surge of irritation. “Are you actually insane? Why did you kick me?”

He glared at me. “Because I felt like it. You got a problem with that?” As he spoke, he let out a loud sneeze, his brow furrowing.

“You have a cold?” My anger evaporated, replaced by a triumphant grin. “Don’t tell me you were unconscious all night. You must be all pruney from sitting in that tub.”

His grandfather came in, his eyes scanning the messy room and my disheveled appearance with deep satisfaction. Then, he turned to Steven and lowered his voice. “You brat. You could be a little gentler. Look what you did to Zephyra’s neck.”

I reflexively touched my neck. I couldn’t see the damage, but I could still feel the sting of his bite.

Steven glanced at me, his dark eyes unreadable. “She had it coming.”

“…” That son of a bitch. I should have hit him harder.

His grandfather just chuckled, assuming it was some kind of lovers’ quarrel. Steven then turned his cold gaze on the old man. “And you. If you ever feed me any of that crap again, you will never see me again.”
