I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra) novel Chapter 104

“Our jewelry sales have been down for three consecutive quarters. Once these designs are produced, they’re going to turn everything around. You’ve really saved me.”

He looked at me as if he’d discovered a priceless gem, his roguish features softening.

“Steven is such an idiot, treating gold like scrap metal. He has such an amazing wife and he still mistreats her. I’ve really lost respect for him. Don’t you worry, Zephyra. When he finds out you’re… when he finds out how incredible you are, he’s going to regret it!”

Whether Steven regretted it or not, I didn’t care.

I narrowed my eyes at Myron. “You are not to tell him I’m working at your company. If you break our agreement again, I’ll find another firm.”

Myron’s face fell. “Don’t do that, Zephyra. You’re just as important to me as Steven is. We have business partnerships, especially in the jewelry sector. Our operations are tied together.”

“He’s bound to visit the office and find out about you. How about this? I won’t bring it up, and if he asks, you can handle it yourself. Deal?”

I wasn’t fully aware of the scope of Steven’s business ventures. I had no idea he was even involved in jewelry. The man really would go wherever the money was.

“Fine. So, is the proposal approved?”

“It is.” Myron had no objections. I looked at him, my tone softening. “Myron, how is the search for a doctor for Uncle Julian going?”

His eyes flickered. “I’m still on it. I’ve made some contacts and should have an update soon. Finding a good doctor takes time, so just be a little more patient. But are you sure you don’t want to tell Steven about this?”

“After what happened between you two last night… shouldn’t your relationship be getting better? It’s normal for couples to fight and make up. Steven just has a sharp tongue and might have hurt you without meaning to, but he’s a good man. He’s incredibly responsible. If you just asked him for a doctor, he’d find one for you overnight. Why not just talk to him?”

“Hey, I try. So, what’s the verdict, Zephyra?”

He was usually more subtle with his teasing, but now he was pushing, clearly determined to get an answer.

I stated my feelings plainly.

“I will never love Steven again, and I no longer want to be associated with him. I want to spend the rest of my life with absolutely no connection to him. Preferably, we will never see each other again.”
