I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra) novel Chapter 84

“You’ve put up with me for over twenty years; what’s one more day? If you need to hit someone, hit the one who deserves it. As for me,” I said, my voice dropping to a low, dangerous tone, “you can’t afford to.”

The slap still came, cracking through the tense silence of the room.

But it wasn’t me who was hit. It was Antonia.

Martin had put his full force into the blow.

“Ah!” Antonia screamed, stumbling and falling to the floor. A bright red handprint bloomed on her cheek, already beginning to swell.

“Antonia!” Janice cried out, rushing to her side.

“Mom, it hurts so much!” Antonia sobbed. Janice, her heart breaking, turned on Martin. “What are you doing? Hitting my daughter is like killing me!”

“She’s a useless failure!” Martin roared, his eyes blazing. “Didn’t you hear that recording? Is this the wonderful daughter you raised?”

This was a debt of blood. And I would see it paid.

Janice was stunned, slumping to the floor, her face burning. She stared at me in disbelief. “You… you dare hit me?”

“Hit you? Why shouldn’t I?” My eyes were bloodshot, my voice trembling with a rage I could barely control. I grabbed her by the shoulders, towering over her as she knelt, and slapped her again, hard. “A mistress. What right do you have to lecture me? Because you’re my aunt? My elder?” My voice dripped with venom. “You stabbed your own sister in the back. You’re lower than any other home-wrecker. You’re more disgusting than maggots in a cesspool.”
