Ira’s POV
Lior’s pain ends instantly after Adon steps into the circle, and the traitorous assistant jumps back to his feet, picking up the torch he had dropped.
Luminis let’s go of my father’s neck and strides towards Adon, picking up the silver blade he dropped on the way.
“I will always win. Because unlike you I care about no one. Love is a weakness. You inherited your father’s pathetic brains,” Luminis mocks. “Who will care about you after I have cut off your head?”
“More people will always respect my corpse than they will ever respect you. You will never have the glory you seek,” Adon mocks.
But I do not want him to die. Can he negotiate a truce for now?
“Then I will set a banquet where I will have you hanged naked in front of a multitude. Thousands will come to witness your death. Then your corpse will be a sight of shame!” the dark angel declares.
“Kill him now! Master… this is just a trick to buy time. His brothers will be seeking to rescue him. We should kill him now and hunt them down immediately,” Lior advises.
He really was the devil in sheep’s clothing. The angel kings have never really wronged him. Yet he has sided with a monster just to see them die.
“You’re my servant, not adviser,” Luminis dismisses him.
“As your loyal servant I beg you to reconsider your decision to let him live a second longer. It is the same mistake that Lysandra made,” Lior insists and the dark angel appears to be finally listening. “I will drag his body through cities of every kingdom to gather all shame it can get while also spreading word of your greatness,” our traitor adds.
The dark angel considers his proposal for a long moment. My heart sinks when he nods his head.
“You’re a wise servant. I will give you the honour of cutting his head off,” he hands Lior the silver blade.
Adon simply stares at them, looking unafraid.
The assistant’s hand shake as he takes a step forward. “Even without powers or weapons the angel kings are dangerous. He can wrestle the sword out of my hands,” he complains to his master.
What a coward!
