Rita’s POV

I had barely arrived at church today when Madeline came running to gossip. That woman knew everything that happened in this town, she should publish a newspaper! But she told me that Cam and Orlando left town yesterday afternoon - they must have gone to visit that little rat. I bet she called daddy complaining that I was there. But I couldn't care less, as long as I was the mother, I would do whatever I want with that spoiled girl. I went there just out of anger for what that stupid Olivia did to me, I wanted to take it out on someone and my punching bag was there, so I went after it.

But thinking it through, I needed to speed things up. I needed to resolve this inheritance matter quickly and handed the little rat over to Calvin. Speaking of which, who would have thought he would be interested in her. Though it was somewhat understandable - after she decided to become pretty, she looked just like the dead woman, and Calvin was crazy about the dead woman, suffered like a condemned man when she died.

"None of your business. You took your time coming," I complained, since it was in his interest too to bring the little rat back.

"Unlike you, who lives worrying about other people's lives and thinking about the next evil thing you're going to do, I work, I have a business to run," Calvin sat down.

He was an unpleasant, ill-mannered man who treated everyone rudely. That poor woman who married him even got beaten; I thought she died from so much sorrow. But despite his age, he wasn't exactly a lost cause. He wasn't in peak physical condition, but he wasn't in bad shape either. He was quite a bit older than Orlando, about ten years older, but he was still a strong and virile man.

"I didn't call you here to be insulted," I protested, refusing to back down from him.

"Then tell me what you want, what do you need to bring my fiancée back?" He smiled, very pleased about getting his hands on the little mouse.

"Tell me, Calvin, is this sudden interest in my daughter just because she's young, or because she reminded you of your dead wife?" I gave him a fake smile, but the man became furious.

"Don't talk about her, you're not even worthy of speaking her name. She was a good woman, decent, honest. While you're nothing but a -" He wasn't going to insult me in my own house.
