Flavian’s POV
We were in the eye of the hurricane with Manu's situation, but I never thought this hurricane would hit me even harder. I thought Sabrina was a closed chapter in my life. When Breno mentioned her name, I found it strange since he never knew about her existence, but when he told me why, I felt like I had been hit by a train and thrown somewhere else. I didn't feel the glass falling from my hand, didn't notice Manu approaching; my head was spinning, and my vision was blurry.
Almost automatically, I asked him to send me a copy of the documents; I needed to get to the bottom of this. I felt Manu's gentle touch on my arm, looked at her, but everything was a blur in front of me. Slowly, I realized the glass I had been holding was no longer in my hand and saw it shattered on the floor. I made a move to bend down and pick up the pieces, but Manu held me back. She wanted to know if I was okay, but I didn't know what to answer, so I asked for a minute and went to the bedroom.
When I closed the bedroom door, I felt my phone vibrate; it was Breno's message with the file I had requested. I started reading it. There was a photo of Sabrina, documents signed by her, the amounts she paid for the procedures she had done, tests, and a report about what was done. Sabrina was three months pregnant when she sought out that place and had the abortion seven years ago. But before that, she had already done it at the same place three times, twice during our marriage and once before we started dating when she was still a teenager. I kept reading and rereading, hardly believing it - three pregnancies terminated during our marriage. I couldn't understand why she did this when I always wanted to have a child, and she said she wanted one too.
According to those documents, the first time, when she was still a teenager, her mother took her to the illegal clinic, recommended by a friend I knew by sight. The other times she went alone. And that report also stated that the last time there was some complication, and Sabrina needed to be taken to the hospital. Her mother was notified to accompany her daughter. After that, there was a note observing that due to complications from the last abortion, she needed to have her uterus removed and since she never referred other clients, she was now part of the "contributors" file.
Breno also informed me by message that the "contributors" file was the file of women blackmailed by this Gisele. And he sent me a second file containing seven years of blackmail that Sabrina paid, with all dates, all communications between the two recorded, all amounts paid and how they were paid. The amounts were high and paid every six months, sometimes in cash, sometimes via bank transfer. Sabrina spent a lot of money on this.
After reading everything and putting things in perspective, I called my father. Obviously, he didn't know about this; after all, he dreamed of having a grandchild when I was married, he wouldn't have allowed Sabrina to do this atrocity. I needed to talk to him.
"Flavian! Good to hear from you," my father seemed relaxed, maybe he was at the club.
"Dad, where are you?" I asked, skipping the polite preliminaries of a call.
"I'm home, just got back. What's wrong?" He turned serious.
"I just found out that Sabrina had an abortion," I said it at once, without softening the information.
"When? Who got her pregnant?"
"Dad, that pregnancy during the divorce. She didn't have an accident, she had an abortion."
"What are you saying, Flavian? That's not possible! I can't believe that girl deceived me like this." My father was refusing to believe it, but I understood him; it was difficult even for me.
"I figured you didn't know either. And it wasn't the only one," I took a deep breath. "They shut down the illegal clinic and found documents proving that Sabrina had four abortions there."
"No, wait, this could be a setup." My father wasn't believing Sabrina would be capable of this.
