Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 12

After dropping the kids at school, Clive headed straight to the office.

He’d barely made it through the doors when his assistant, Aiden, hurried up, looking serious.

“Mr. Salmeron, urgent news—West Medicine just switched majority shareholders.”

Clive’s expression stiffened. He took the tablet Aiden handed over and scanned the headline: Pharmaceutical Giant West Medicine Sees Major Shake-Up! Sources say former chairman Olson sold his twenty-five percent stake last night. The buyer’s identity remains a mystery.

Aiden kept close, giving him the rest of the story as they walked.

“From what I’ve found, this mystery buyer didn’t just take Olson’s shares. Over the last six months, he’s been quietly buying up stock from smaller shareholders. All told, he’s sitting on over fifty percent now.”

More than half. That meant the new owner basically called all the shots at West Medicine.

Aiden adjusted his glasses. “West Medicine is still one of our biggest partners. Mrs. Salmeron was the one who negotiated our contract with them five years ago, but it expired last month. They’ve been putting off the renewal ever since. Now, we don’t even have a clue who the new boss is...”

Clive stepped into the elevator, his reflection in the glass all dark shadows.

“What about Olson? He’s not talking at all?”

Aiden looked uneasy. “Olson and his family caught an early flight out this morning. He’s completely off the radar. As for his private contact, I think only Mrs. Salmeron would have it. But with the way things are with her right now...”

Clive’s face went even colder.

He hadn’t told anyone Amelia was awake, and he wasn’t about to change that.

He didn’t have to check. It was Amelia.

Just thinking about her reminded him of West Medicine, instantly souring his mood.

He took a steadying breath and answered, keeping his tone as gentle as ever.

“Yes, Amelia?”

“Clive, I forgot to mention—I’d like to get someone in to fix up the garden. That okay with you?”

Clive frowned, annoyance flickering across his face.
