Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 168

Amelia was about to turn him down. “I—”

“Amelia.” Clive’s hand tightened around hers, holding on even harder. “I get it. You’re racing against the clock because you want to nail the perfect proposal and land the West Medicine deal for me. But honestly, a few minutes won’t change anything.”

Amelia just stared at him.

Clive’s confidence wasn’t just over the top—it was straight-up self-obsession. In his world, everything she did was ultimately for him. Maybe he’d finally get it the day she slapped the divorce papers in his face.

Clive wasn’t done. “Amelia, there’s something important I want to talk about while we’re on the road.”

She had no choice but to sit back down and force herself to wait while he finished eating.

When Clive was finally done, they headed outside together. He stopped when he saw her car parked out front.

“That’s not the company car, is it?”

Amelia couldn’t help but laugh. “Didn’t you give the company car to Kristen?”

Clive went quiet for a moment, clearly already knowing the answer. He changed the subject. “I’ll have Aiden push things along and get you another car.”

Like she’d need a company car after Saturday, when she wouldn’t even be Cloudcrest’s manager anymore.

“No need,” Amelia said coolly. “This car’s a gift from Diana. I’m perfectly happy with it.”

An Aston Martin DBX. Retail price? At least four hundred grand.

Clive’s eyes narrowed a little. His voice was as calm as ever, but there was a cold edge to it. “Guess being an actress really pays off.”

Amelia froze, her hand still on the passenger door. She turned to look at Clive, her tone icy. “What did you just say?”

Amelia blinked, like she wasn’t sure she’d heard him right. “This car… four hundred thousand?”

She thought it was maybe fifty grand, tops.

Diana gave her a four-hundred-thousand-dollar car? And even sent a driver to deliver it? When did Diana get so loaded?

Amelia frowned, still not quite believing it. She knew Diana’s situation—every time she saved up half a million, she’d send it off somewhere…

Clive knew Amelia didn’t have a clue about luxury cars or jewelry, so he didn’t push it. He just opened the door for her, all gentlemanly.

“Come on. Let’s go.”

He still had something to talk to her about—just the two of them.
