Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 175

But she didn’t bother with any of that—she just pushed the door open and walked right in.

Michael started clapping, shaking his head with a sigh. “Amelia really does treat everything Clive says like it’s gospel, doesn’t she? Hasn’t changed a bit in ten years.”

Cameron let out a cold laugh and tossed back the rest of his drink. “Even a dog isn’t that obedient.”

It took Amelia less than half an hour to get here from Cloudcrest. She must’ve seen Clive’s message and jumped straight into a cab.

Clive lounged on the couch, looking completely relaxed as he watched her walk in, her eyes scanning the room in anxious confusion. Whatever frustration he’d been holding onto disappeared on the spot.

Half an hour ago, he’d sent Amelia two texts—and she hadn’t replied. For a second, he actually wondered if she was going to show up. But now it was clear he’d been worrying over nothing.

She was still scared of making him really mad.

This was Amelia’s first time here, and the lobby was so big it was almost ridiculous. She glanced around, trying to figure out how to get upstairs.

Mr. Arrowood had sent her the room number—they were on the third floor.

But from where Clive and the others sat, she just looked lost and frantic, wandering the lobby like a headless chicken.

This wasn’t some regular business restaurant. Even getting a table in the main room was tough.

Booking a private room meant a full identity check. This wasn’t a place you could get into just by having money.

Everyone who came here had real status. In her simple outfit, Amelia stuck out like a sore thumb.

The restaurant manager started heading her way, probably planning to throw her out. Michael hesitated, raising his hand to call the manager over, but Cameron stopped him, pressing his arm down.

“Why bother?” Cameron said, watching Amelia with a cold, almost amused look. He was enjoying the thought of her making a fool of herself.

Not his wife, not his problem.

Michael glanced at Clive, but Clive just swirled his tea, looking like he couldn’t care less.

Of course, he’d step in if things went too far. Amelia was still his wife.

But honestly, she could use a little lesson—lately, his Mrs. Salmeron had been way too bold.

Clive had it all figured out.

Back when they first started dating, Clive was stressed about family stuff. One day, Amelia showed up at his place with homemade soup, only to catch him in a bad mood. He snapped at her, locked himself in the bedroom, and played video games for hours.

Late that night, hungry, he finally opened his door and found Amelia asleep on the living room sofa. She’d cleaned up the soup he’d knocked over and curled up into a tiny, miserable ball, her cheeks still streaked with tears.

The moonlight was soft on her face. In that cool, gentle glow, he could see the fine fuzz on her cheeks…

Clive remembered exactly how he felt in that moment. That was when he realized he really had fallen for Amelia.

He wouldn’t have married her if he hadn’t loved her.

His resolve softened. He set down his teacup, planning to call Amelia and save her from wandering the halls.

He’d just tapped her name when a call from Kristen popped up.

He hesitated for half a second, then answered.

“Kristen, what’s up?”

Cameron, face unreadable, poured himself another drink and knocked it back in one go.
