Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 318

Belle, Dr. Wade, and Emmery—who had just walked in with a stack of fresh contracts—were all wearing the same stunned expression.

Belle finally connected the dots.

So Clive brought his side chick to the office, ran smack into his actual wife, and then pretended she was a stranger? Seriously, what a jerk.

Clive and Kristen had barely made it a few steps out of the office when Amelia’s words rang out crystal clear behind them.

Clive froze, turning a shade of green that looked almost comical.

He never imagined Amelia would dare to call him out like this.

Kristen was the first to recover. She turned back, forcing a shaky smile. Amelia actually had to hand it to her—how did she manage to act so calm in a mess like this?

“Amelia, that’s not funny,” Kristen said, her smile barely hanging on.

Amelia just shot her a frosty look. “Is anyone else here laughing besides you?”

Kristen’s smile cracked, her hand clenching tightly at her side.

“And another thing,” Amelia’s eyes narrowed, her words sharp as ice, “stop calling me ‘sis.’ Wouldn’t want people thinking the Sadinton family gene pool turned out an idiot.”

Kristen’s acting skills were on full display, her eyes turning red as if she’d just been deeply wronged.

“Mrs. Salmeron,” she corrected herself, lowering her head and making herself look small and fragile. “Please don’t be mad. I really only came with Mr. Salmeron today for work.”

Huge tears started rolling down her face. She rubbed the back of her hand where Amelia had just stepped on her, sneaking a terrified glance at Amelia.

“You hit me earlier. I thought you’d calmed down and wouldn’t take it out on Mr. Salmeron…”

Amelia nearly rolled her eyes.

Clive, who’d had his back to them, whipped around.

“Amelia hit you again?” he demanded, his eyes zeroing in on Kristen’s hand.

“No, I— I made that up,” Kristen fumbled, quickly hiding her hand behind her back and forcing a watery smile. “It’s nothing to do with Amelia. I just tripped.”

Clive’s frown only deepened.

Amelia stayed put, watching Clive storm toward her, his face twisted with worry and anger. The worry was for Kristen. The anger—definitely aimed at Amelia.

“Amelia, you—”

He raised his hand and without thinking, Amelia flinched. She stumbled back a step, arms up to protect her head, fear written all over her face.

She hadn’t said a word, but her whole body said it for her.

Clive realized what she was implying, his face darkening even more. He gritted his teeth. “Amelia!”

Emmery and Belle were smart—they got that Amelia wanted a private word with Dr. Wade and left without a fuss.

Now it was just Amelia and Dr. Wade in the office.

Amelia got straight to the point. “Dr. Wade, I looked through the files on your desk. I think I can solve the problems with the project, if you give me a little time.”

Dr. Wade pushed up his glasses. “What’s your condition?”

Talking to smart people really did save time.

“I need you to sign the contract with Cloudcrest,” Amelia said, “and I want Kristen assigned to the core project team—specifically the part I’ll be leading.”

Dr. Wade stared at her, surprised. “You want Kristen on your team?”

“Yes. But don’t worry, I’ll keep her far from anything important. She won’t mess with the project.”

Honestly, even if Kristen did get access, she probably wouldn’t understand any of it.

Amelia’s real targets were way bigger than Kristen.

There was Bianca. And her cold, selfish father—Hank.

The three of them owed the Sadinton family, and Amelia was going to take back every single thing they stole.
