Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 362

Andrew did the math and said, “About seventeen million.”

Amelia’s eyes widened in shock. “How much?”

Andrew adjusted his glasses, looking as calm as ever. “That’s my conservative guess.”

He’d already checked out the Adlee family’s finances on his way over. Seventeen million dollars—if they sold everything, they might just barely cover it.

The thought of paying Andrew’s legal fees already made Amelia’s heart ache.

“Ms. Sadinton, I’ve filed your divorce petition with the court,” Andrew said. He’d seen all the headlines about the Salmeron family scandal blowing up online.

With something like this coming out right now, he could pretty much guess what was happening behind the scenes.

He gave Amelia a look that carried a hint of sympathy.

“Caroline’s scandal happened at just the right time. Clive’s reputation has been crashing lately,” Andrew analyzed. “This gives you a real advantage for getting custody of the kids.”

Thinking about her children—especially Penny—Amelia’s eyes grew dim.

Andrew dropped her off at the gate to her building. She said goodbye and headed up alone.

She had barely walked inside before her phone rang. It was Timmy.

He should have been asleep by now.

Worried, Amelia picked up right away. “Sweetheart, why are you still up?”

Just hearing her voice seemed to calm Timmy down.

He sounded groggy, his voice quiet. “Mom, are you okay? I heard someone tried to throw acid at you. Dad said he protected you, but Aunt Kristen got hurt.”

Amelia hadn’t expected the news to reach the kids so fast.

Amelia stood frozen in the entryway, her heart aching.

Timmy seemed to sense her mood and tried to make her feel better. “Penny’s been sick a lot these last few years. Aunt Kristen always comes to be with her, so she’s just used to it…”

But the more he tried to explain, the weirder it sounded.

Timmy was still so young. He didn’t know how to handle grown-up stuff.

Finally, he scratched his head, blaming himself. “Sorry… I should’ve tried to stop her.”

Amelia’s heart ached even more.

Her son was the light Jacob had given her, the one thing that helped her heal.

“Timmy, you didn’t do anything wrong. You don’t have to apologize for what your sister does. You and Penny are twins, but just because you were born a few minutes earlier doesn’t mean you have to look after her all the time. You don’t have to be what everyone expects you to be.”
