Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 370

“Grandma.”

Even though the old lady was still annoyed that Penny was defending Kristen, she couldn’t help but soften when she saw Penny’s adorable face. The stern look faded as she reached out and gathered Penny into her arms.

“Grandma,” Clive greeted her too.

She shot him a glare. “Don’t call me that. I don’t have a grandson who would openly defy me at the hospital, just for a woman like Kristen.”

She paused for a moment. Thinking of Cameron only made her angrier. “And that clueless boy from the Henson family—honestly, Old Mr. Henson was way too easy on him the last time.”

Clive just lowered his head and took the scolding. He wasn’t about to argue with Mrs. Salmeron.

Once she got it all off her chest, Mrs. Salmeron’s mood finally seemed to settle.

“Penny, go wash your hands. It’s time for dinner.”

“Okay!” Penny answered quickly. Ever since she walked in, she’d been sneaking little glances at Amelia.

Usually, every time she saw her, her mom would greet her with a warm smile and call her sweetheart. But today, Amelia hadn’t looked at her even once.

Penny pressed her lips together, suddenly feeling anxious.

On the way home, she’d asked her dad if Mom was mad at her.

She had called for Momma Kristen again, and she was pretty sure Amelia heard it.

Dad told her not to worry. He said no real mom would ever stay mad at her own daughter. Besides, after being taken care of by Momma Kristen for so long, it was normal for Penny to care about her too.

But now, watching Amelia sit there so quietly, not even glancing her way, Penny couldn’t help feeling unsure.

She turned down Tara’s offer to help her wash up, hesitated for a second, then walked over to Amelia and gently tugged her sleeve.

Amelia listened quietly, her face unreadable.

When Amelia finished drying her hands for her, Penny couldn’t hold back any longer. Her voice came out tiny and shaky. “Mommy, are you mad at me?”

Amelia knew Penny had been watching her since she walked in. She knew that asking to wash hands together and all the chattering were just Penny’s way of trying to make things right.

If it were before today, Amelia thought, she probably would have been moved to tears.

But now, she just felt tired.

She lowered her eyes as she gently dried Penny’s hands. Once she finished, she finally met her daughter’s gaze, her voice calm but firm.

“Penny, you can only have one mother.” Amelia spoke softly, but her words were unwavering. “If you choose Kristen, then I won’t be your mother anymore.”
