Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 468

Clive stared at his phone for a second, watching as the call switched over. Penny’s sweet, sleepy little voice came through the speaker.

“Daddy, you’re home already? Can I have some barbecue chicken wings? I haven’t had any snacks lately... and my brother and Momma Kristen want barbecue too!”

Clive pinched the bridge of his nose. “Did you eat dinner?”

“Mhm…”

“Ask Donna to make you a snack. Something clean and healthy.”

“Okayyy.”

“I’m on my way back now.”

“Alright! I’m gonna shower first. Love you, Daddy.”

“Love you too, sweetheart.”

Clive put his phone down, stood there for a few moments, then finally headed to his car.

Across town, a sleek black Maybach flew down the road, fast but steady.

Amelia sat in the passenger seat, sneaking glances at Ryan every now and then.

He hadn’t said a single word since they got in the car.

She couldn’t tell what he was thinking, but judging by his face, he clearly wasn’t in the best mood.

Amelia pressed her lips together. She was afraid that saying anything might make things worse, so she just stayed quiet.

The car was silent, except for the sound of their breathing.

Ryan gave a small, crooked smile, not saying a word. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Amelia’s profile—quiet, reserved, the way she always was.

That was just Amelia—soft-spoken, so patient, never in a rush.

When it came to patience, she always beat him.

Suddenly, Ryan turned into a quiet, tree-lined street and pulled over to the curb.

Moonlight spilled in through the windows, painting gentle shadows across his sharp features.

“Amelia.” He turned to her, his eyes deep and unreadable. “Didn’t you say you wanted to talk to me about something?”

“Have you eaten dinner?” she blurted out.

Ryan blinked. “No.”

“Then let’s eat and talk. Otherwise, the food I brought is going to get cold.” She looked at him, completely serious.

Ryan smiled despite himself. That was so like her.

“Alright.” He couldn’t really say no to her anyway.

He saw her struggling with the takeout boxes, so he leaned over to help with her seatbelt.

But the second he moved closer, Amelia instantly tensed up, shrinking back against the seat like she wanted to become part of it.

Ryan laughed. “Relax, I’m just trying to help with your seatbelt.”

“Oh. I know…”
