Chapter 154 It Will Surpass Them
Reality could be cruel.
Raine wore a worried expression on her face, yet inside, she was smirking.
Nancy cared too much about Martha. This time, she would have to bow her head.
If Nancy married Jasper, they could keep her on a leash through him.
Nancy walked to Martha’s side and touched her wrist. Something in the pulse made her brows knit for a beat. Then, she softened her voice. “Riversdale has plenty of good hospitals, Grandma. You don’t have to worry.”
Martha nodded. “Alright. Let’s go.”
Regina hadn’t expected them to walk away so decisively.
“Martha, Nancy’s being unreasonable. Don’t tell me you’re going to be stubborn, too. No other hospital can match Ultracare Hospital’s resources. They’ve just partnered with Fuller Group and will soon have equipment as advanced as Boraska’s!”
A flicker of hesitation crossed Martha’s eyes, but it vanished just as quickly as it came. “There’s no need.”
Seeing Martha so resolute stirred something in Nancy’s heart. She said softly, “Grandma, I won’t let anything happen to you.

Martha met her gaze and nodded. Then, the two turned and walked away.
Quiet until now, Jasper shot to his feet. “Mrs. Lidell Senior, think carefully. If you walk out today, we won’t admit you later. And even if you try another hospital, they may not take you.”
The two didn’t slow their pace. Soon, they were out the door.
Jasper’s chest heaved with anger.
Raine said gently, “Don’t be mad, Jasper. Nancy’s just impulsive. I’ll talk to her when we get home.”
“Alright. At least you’re sensible,” Jasper said.
After Regina and Raine left, Jasper waited for Nancy to come back and beg him.
That afternoon, after finishing a surgery, Jasper found his assistant waiting in his office. “Well? Did Nancy come by?”
Jasper knew she’d be back, but he wouldn’t make it easy for her. She would have to beg, throw herself at him, and maybe then he’d grant her an ounce of mercy.
Just picturing Nancy’s figure lit a fire low in his body.
“No,” the assistant answered. “You asked me to keep an eye on Mrs. Lidell Senior. She’s already been admitted to another hospital.”
“That’s impossible! Which one?” Jasper stared in disbelief.
“Northern Hospital.”
Jasper frowned. Northern Hospital couldn’t match Ultracare Hospital, yet it still ranked in the top five in the city.
He had underhandedly issued a blacklist that morning–no one was to admit Martha. Was Northern Hospital doing this just to cross him?
His gaze turned cold. “Northern Hospital, is it? They dare to challenge me? My family controls the medical resources in Riversdale. From now on, whenever advanced equipment hits the market, outbid them and shut them out. They won’t get a single piece!”

“Mr. Lewis, there’s one more thing…” the assistant said cautiously. “Fuller Group has called off their partnership with us,
and…”
Jasper’s vision nearly blacked out. “And what?”
“And they’ve partnered with Northern Hospital instead,” the assistant added.
Jasper dropped to the floor. “How is that possible? Find out exactly what happened!”
Just two days ago, Fuller Group had agreed to sign with them. Ultracare Hospital was the best hospital in Riversdale. Why would they suddenly switch to Northern Hospital?
At Northern Hospital, Nancy finished the admission paperwork and sat by Martha’s bed, worry clouding her eyes.
“Sweetheart, what’s troubling you?” Martha patted her hand. “Don’t worry. It’s the same condition as before.”
“Grandma, would you consider surgery?” Nancy asked.
“If surgery could fix it once and for all, I’d do it. But the doctor says the success rate is low at only 10%,” Martha said with a quiet sigh. “With medication, I’m stable enough. Don’t carry the burden on your back.”
“Alright. But you have to take your meds on time,” Nancy said, squeezing her hand.
Ever since Nancy came back to the Lidell family, Martha was the only one who treated her with genuine kindness.
Soon after, the other Lidell family members heard Martha had been hospitalized, and they trickled in one by one until the
room buzzed with noise.
“Mom, how are you feeling? Why are you in the hospital again? You scared me half to death,” Edward said as he sat beside her. “But why are you at Northern Hospital this time?”
Raine answered softly, “Nancy went on a blind date with Jasper Lewis, the Ultracare Hospital director’s son. She turned him down and offended him, so he kicked Grandma out.”
“What? Are you serious? He’s the director’s son. Nancy, how could you reject him?” snapped Edward’s wife, Emma Keller,
her voice sharp enough to cut.
“So what if he’s the director’s son?” Martha laughed coldly, silencing the room. “Nancy deserves better!”
Regina’s expression tightened. “Martha, who would even want Nancy? She’s offended Jasper, and that’s why you’re here in a smaller hospital.”
Edward stoked the flames. “Exactly. I heard Ultracare Hospital has partnered with Fuller Group. They’ll have equipment on par with Boraska’s top hospitals any day now. Mom, your odds of recovery go up if you’re at Ultracare Hospital.
“Nancy, if you care about your grandma, apologize to Jasper!” He pressed the point hard.
“Northern Hospital will surpass Ultracare Hospital soon,” Nancy said evenly.
Edward laughed scornfully. “What a joke! The Lewis family controls almost every medical resource in Riversdale, Northern Hospital will never measure up to Ultracare Hospital-”
“Who says?” A doctor stepped in at this moment, his expression cold. “Northern Hospital’s resources are about to outpace Ultracare Hospital.”
Edward sneered. “Big talk.”
“Fuller Group has partnered with our hospital. They’ll be outfitting us with the most advanced equipment available,” the doctor replied with confidence.
