“No way!” Benny’s jaw set. “Listen to me. Nothing you say or do will make me help you today!

“If I don’t, he won’t agree to operate on your grandma.” Gideon’s tone softened the moment he spoke to Nancy.

“I don’t need that. Put him on.” Nancy sighed and pressed a hand to her forehead.

Gideon frowned, assuming she wanted to plead with Benny, and set the phone in front of him.

“Save it,” Benny said dryly into the phone. “Whatever you try, it won’t work!”

“Dr. Gales!” Nancy called.

Benny blinked, surprise breaking through his scowl. “Nancy?”

“It’s me. I’m sorry. Gideon was only trying to help me. I apologize on his behalf,” she said

earnestly.

Benny’s reaction caught Gideon off guard. Did he already know Nancy?

“You… You know Gideon?” Benny asked.

“Yes, Dr. Gales. I’m really sorry.”

She then addressed Gideon. “Gideon, let my mentor go!”

Gideon bent at the waist without hesitation. “I’m sorry, Dr. Gales. I didn’t know you were Nancy’s mentor. I’ll send you back right now.”

Benny raised an eyebrow at Gideon’s sudden change in attitude. So, he did care about Nancy.

He grunted. “Since you’re her friend, I’ll let it go.”

Gideon personally drove Benny back.

Nancy hadn’t expected such a mess to occur without her knowledge. “Don’t do that again,” she warned.

“I won’t,” Gideon said.

The next morning, Nancy checked Martha into a hospital in Boraska. They were soon placed in

a VIP room.

On the way over, Nancy passed an open doorway and caught a familiar profile. Winter sat beside her grandfather, Hank Seabourne.

So, Hank had been admitted, too?

Nancy didn’t dwell on it. After settling Martha in, she met with Benny to review the surgical plan.

When they finished, Nancy asked, “Dr. Gales, did you know that Mr. Hank Seabourne was here?

Benny nodded. “The Seabourne family came to me, but I’m too old for high-precision surgery. Do you want to take the case? They’re offering 50 million dollars.”

“I’ll decide after Grandma’s surgery,” Nancy said.

“Alright. I’ve arranged several assistants for you. They’ll be here soon, so I’ll head out now.”
