Chapter 29 The Rivalry
Nancy was stunned. She quickly called for the manager, who appeared moments later.
“Oh, my apologies! I forgot to mention. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to serve you tonight. The entire venue has been booked out,” the manager revealed.
“Mr. Miller, I made this reservation with you a long time ago,” Nancy said, her voice growing cold.
“Ms. Moore, you have to understand that I’m just an employee,” Lawrence Miller, the manager, replied helplessly.
Then, his face lit up when he spotted Winter. “Ms. Seabourne, you’re here.”
“Yes,” Winter answered, casting an indifferent glance at Nancy and her group.
In a languid drawl, she added, “Make sure my people have a good time tonight. I don’t want any riff–raff coming
“Of course, Ms. Seabourne. Everything’s ready,” Lawrence said obsequiously.
A sharp glint flickered in Nancy’s eye.
It was obvious Lawrence and Winter had been in on it together, and he’d intentionally kept her in the dark.
Rebecca gave them a smug, disdainful look. “I’m so glad I left Duran Corporation when I did.
Otherwise, I’d be out here in the cold with you.”

Hannah questioned, “Mr. Miller, what is this? You agreed to the reservation, and now you’re backing out? Don’t you care about your reputation?”
“I’ve just been so tied up with Ms. Seabourne’s preparations that it slipped my mind,” Lawrence said, his voice dripping with helplessness and his expression full of indifference.
Raine spoke softly. “Nancy, he’s just an employee. You don’t need to be so hard on him.”

Rebecca raised her voice. “If you were really from a family like the Seabournes, why wouldn’t the manager serve you? Maybe you should start looking for the problem in yourself!”
“Exactly!” several others who had left Duran Corporation echoed.
“Are you fucking trying to get yourself fired?” Winter snapped.
Lawrence leaned in and murmured something in her ear. Winter’s expression shifted, and she east Nancy a venomous glare before storming off.
Raine, still clueless about what had just happened, felt her cheeks burning with shame as she watched Nancy and her team stride in

Rebecca let out a sharp scuff. “I’m doing perfectly fine at Blossor Corporation What on earth should I be afraid of? You’re just jealous.”
“Jealous of you? Please!” Clate sheeted, her tone full of disdain
Rebecca sexthed Watching Clars walk away, she raised her voice. “Your performance is nowtante neer cuts, yet you still have the energy to go out and play. Incredible! If I were you, I’d be to embarassed to even show my face outside the odig!”
