Chapter 73 Gideon’s Gift Was for Her
“Go ahead, Mom,” Raine said sweetly.
Regina’s heart softened. Her voice was gentle as she said, “You and your brother aren’t kids anymore. I know you’re close, but he’s getting ready for marriage. From now on, you two should keep a little more distance.”
Raine nodded earnestly. “I got it, Mom.‘
“Stay home and rest these next few days. There’s a banquet coming up. Your father can take you so that you can make an appearance.” Pleased by her obedience, Regina patted Raine’s
head.
“Alright.”
A few days later, Nancy arrived at the office early in the morning and found a beautifully wrapped gift box sitting on her desk.
“This was delivered first thing in the morning,” Hannah said.
Nancy gave a little nod in acknowledgment. She opened her phone and saw a message from Gideon. “I’ve taken care of your outfit and had it sent to your office.”
Nancy stared at the text, already regretting how close she had let herself get to him. That was especially the case since finding out that he liked someone else.
But a promise was a promise. She wasn’t one to back out after giving her word.
Besides, the banquet was something she had to attend.
“You can head out now,” Nancy told Hannah.
She then worked through her tasks as usual, and by 5:00 pm, she opened the box after a quick
shower.
Nancy froze at the sight.
Inside was a glittering gown–one of her own designs. Gideon’s gift had been for her all along.
Her brows drew together, but after a few seconds, she suppressed the conflicting thoughts raging in her mind. She then slipped into the dress and got ready to leave.
A call from Gideon came right on cue. “I’m in your company’s parking lot.”
“I’m coming down now,” Nancy replied.

She stepped into the parking lot and immediately spotted the understated yet unmistakably expensive Rolls–Royce.
Gideon was dressed in a black vintage suit that accentuated his shoulders and waist. The cut was immaculate as his tall frame radiated an unshakable air of authority.
When his gaze fell on her, something flickered in his eyes.
Nancy’s hair fell in loose waves, framing her delicate face. The bare line of her collarbone was striking, and the deep–blue fishtail gown hugged her figure perfectly. She was the perfect image of a mermaid who had stepped out of a dream.
Gideon opened the car door for her, placing a hand above her head as she slid inside.
He then walked around to the driver’s seat.
“The dress suits you,” he whispered.
Nancy offered a polite smile in response. “Thank you.”
The ride was quiet as Nancy looked straight ahead. The air was faintly scented with his
familiar cedarwood cologne, and Nancy felt restless.
It wasn’t like her. She’d mastered countless skills. Nothing and no one had ever been able to
shake her composure.
Yet, here she was, deeply unsettled.
The banquet was held at the most luxurious hotel in Riversdale.
The entrance was lined with high–end cars belonging to countless socialites. The second–floor ballroom was already buzzing with well–dressed guests and clinking glasses.
Someone like Gideon wouldn’t head straight to the main hall. Instead, he headed to the VIP
suite.
Several other high–profile executives were already gathered there, Skylar included.
“Mr. Fuller, you made it,”
“Gideon, who is this?”
Their eyes slid to Nancy. It was the first time Gideon had ever brought a date to an event, and it didn’t go unnoticed.
“This is my date, Nancy Moore,” Gideon introduced.
“Ms. Moore, you’re stunning,” someone remarked. It wasn’t just flattery.

Nancy replied with poise and took a seat beside Gideon. “Thank you.”
Every gesture and glance from her carried an elegance that drew every eye in the room to her.
