Chapter 75 Mirella Slaps Raine

A vein visibly throbbed at Andrew’s temple. Fergus and Raine were getting more and more out

of hand.

Regina quickly pulled Andrew aside. “Don’t say anything, darling. Everyone’s watching. If you step in now, they’ll think you’re covering for Nancy.”

The murmurs in the crowd swelled.

“Raine took lessons from a fraud and is somehow blaming it on Nanette? That’s hilarious.‘

Winter showed up with a sneer. “Since Nancy is Nanette, she should’ve spoken up the moment she knew Raine had been duped. By keeping silent, she stood by and watched her own fan get swindled. That’s malicious intent!”

“Yeah, Raine only approached that teacher because of Nanette’s reputation,” someone agreed.

“Nanette should have at least warned her. She was too cold–blooded!”

Nancy flashed Raine a thin smile. “Think harder. Are you sure I never warned you? And even if I told you I was Nanette, would you have believed me?”

Of course not. But Raine’s eyes welled with tears nonetheless. Her voice trembled with wounded innocence as she said, “You never told me.”

Out of the corner of her eye, Raine spotted Christopher and Mirella approaching. Mirella’s face was tight with anger as she stormed over.

A spark of hope lit in Raine’s chest. She quickly changed the topic. “And Nancy, you still haven’t explained how you even got into this auction. Don’t tell me you came with… Mr. Wentworth?”

“What do you think?” Nancy had already noticed Christopher, so she knew exactly where Raine was trying to steer the conversation to.

“Well, without Mr. Wentworth, you wouldn’t have gotten in here, right?” Rain said softly. ” But Mr. Wentworth has a girlfriend. Don’t you think that’s a little inappropriate?”

The crowd noticed Mirella’s darkened face.

“Wait, isn’t Mr. Wentworth here with Mirella? How did Nancy even get in?”

“With his status, getting a second invite would be all too easy. Looks like his relationship with Nancy isn’t exactly professional,”

“It’s no wonder Mirella looks like she’s about to explode.”

Fergus sensed a chance to expose Nancy for who she truly was. “Nancy, you shot your way up to the position of department manager in Duran Corporation so quickly. You think we don’t know how you did it? You seduced Mr. Wentworth. How shameless!”

The crowd collectively gasped.

“Damn, did she really do that?”

“I never thought Nanette was that kind of woman.”

Mirella strode forward, her expression a storm.

Raine’s anticipation swelled. Mirella was about to tear Nancy apart. Even if Nancy were Nanette, the scandal would ruin her whole.

Everyone else leaned in, eager to watch what would happen next. Watching a train wreck from afar was a twisted, universal entertainment, after all.

As expected, a slap rang through the hall.

The crowd froze as they watched on.

The slap didn’t land on Nancy. It had struck Raine instead.

Raine stood there wide–eyed and with her mouth agape. She stared at Mirella in disbelief before slowly raising her hand to her cheek. Fergus rushed to shield her as he glared at Mirella.

“Are you insane? Why did you hit Raine?”

“She knows damn well why,” Mirella said with open disgust.

Raine blinked in shock. She quickly broke into sobs. “Ms. Shaw, what’s wrong with you? Why would you hit me? Is there some kind of a misunderstanding between us?”

“Misunderstanding?” Mirella nearly laughed in her face. “Cut the act, you two–faced snake! You told me Nancy and Christopher had something going on so that I’d go after her.

“But in truth? She earned her position at Duran on her own merit. Why else would their skincare department be doing so damn well?”
