Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 311

On the other side of the suite, Amelia was visibly annoyed. “Why are you getting so close?”

Daniel, utterly unfazed, replied, “Obviously, I want to talk to my daughter.”

Amelia shot him a look, convinced he must have lost his mind. “For the last time, Ruby isn’t your daughter.”

Daniel shrugged, as if it was basic math. “Ruby’s your daughter. I’m your husband. Do the math—she’s basically my daughter, too.”

She’d never heard logic twisted quite like that before.

Daniel changed the subject. “Want me to call Robert and let him know you’re safe? I can take care of it.”

Amelia rolled her eyes, tossed her phone onto the bed, and stormed into the bedroom.

Daniel didn’t seem to care. On the surface, he was being the dutiful son-in-law, but everyone knew he just wanted another excuse to show off.

Grandma Edith, seeing Daniel wander around the suite in nothing but a bathrobe, grinned. “Snuck your way in, did you?”

Daniel feigned indignation. “Now, that’s hardly fair. We’re just a married couple having a little beach honeymoon. Nothing sneaky about it.”

Grandma Edith was having none of that. “Then what’s with that bathrobe? You’re all buttoned up like a priest at Sunday mass.”

Daniel assumed she thought he wasn’t being modest enough, but Grandma Edith continued, “You spend all that time pumping iron, building those muscles to impress your wife, and now you’re covering it all up? What’s the point of all that effort if you’re just going to hide it?”

He was momentarily speechless.

But as the saying goes, heed your elders and happiness will follow. Daniel immediately took her advice, loosened his bathrobe to reveal his sculpted chest and abs, and sauntered over to knock on Amelia’s door.

“Hey, the fruit platter’s here. Want to come out and have some?”

Amelia’s voice was ice-cold, even through the door. “Go away.”

Daniel tugged his robe even looser. “You sure? Eight-pack abs on display—last chance to take a look.”

Daniel glanced at his watch. “Seven fifteen in the morning. Don’t tell me you’re heading out for a jog.”

Busted, Amelia straightened her back and stopped sneaking. “The storm’s passed.”

Daniel glanced out the window—sure enough, the rain was gone.

“Storm’s over and you’re already bolting. I swear, even a tornado’s got nothing on how fast you make an exit.”

Amelia gripped the doorknob tightly. “You broke my phone, so I crashed here for a night. We’re even. Neither of us owes the other anything.”

Daniel caught her by the arm. “And what if I say I don’t want you to leave?”

“That’s your problem, not mine,” Amelia replied, her tone cold as granite. “Goodbye.”

She shrugged off his hand, yanked the door open—and found herself face-to-face with Robert, who had just reached up to ring the bell.
