Once outside, Fergus made sure to avoid interacting with the wolves. He didn’t want to burden himself by talking to these filthy beasts which he saw as nothing more than mounds of flesh, ready for him to eat whenever he pleased.
There was food everywhere, but Fergus couldn’t just snatch some random person and feed on them. He had to be more calculative than that. So, he relied on his vampire senses, tracking down the scent of a wolf he’d bumped into earlier.
It didn’t take him long for him to follow the scent until it led him to the entrance of a bar. Fergus decided to play with this wolf and then strutted into the bar. His nose was welcomed by the smell of strong rum and sweat, as well as the sound of men chattering and laughing at the top of their voices.
He ignored all that, his gaze finally landing on his target. He was a burly man who wore a pair of skinny jeans, and he seemed disconnected from the other men. He seemed... different. From the way this man had asked him earlier why they hadn’t been meeting at their ’usual spot’, and from noticing a few mannerisms, Fergus had been able to guess that this man was gay and had something with Cullen.
Which would make him an easy prey, one who would trust him and not expect him to be a blood-sucking vampire.
Fergus wore a wide grin, as he made his way to the man. He sat down beside him, giving him a sly smile. The man seemed silent at first, but soon also shot him a wide grin.
"Cullen, look who finally showed up." The man gave Fergus a pat on the back, making him wish he could just bite off his arm and drain him of his blood right there and then."What were you up to earlier? You seemed to be in a hurry."
Off to dump your fling’s bones in the woods; Fergus thought to himself. But instead, he shrugged, speaking with a light-hearted tone. "Ahh, nothing really. I just needed a break away from all the noise in the pack."
That wasn’t really a lie. Fergus was getting tired of this pack, and each day that passed, he wished more and more that he could just complete his mission and be on his merry way. But, he had to be patient.
The man creased his brows, giving Fergus an awkward look. "You decided to take a break? In the forest? Dude, don’t you know how dangerous it is out there?"
Fergus smirked. Oh, he did know how ’dangerous’ the woods were, because he was the danger. Hmph, if only the fool knew.
Fergus tilted his head playfully, his voice a low whisper. "Aww, look at you, looking out for me even though I’m not your boyfriend." He shoved the man gently, eagerly waiting for the moment when he would be able to pin him down and feed on him.
Hell, why was he so hungry?
"I do care about you, and you know it." The man said with a soft voice, managing to make Fergus shiver with disgust. Ugh, wolves and their pitiful emotions.
The man continued, looking into Fergus’s eyes now. "I really like you, Cullen. I know you see me as nothing more than a fling, but I want to prove myself to you. I want to spend forever with you."
Fergus was sure he just vomited inside his throat. This man said he loved him? Please! From what he’d been able to gather so far, he could tell that Cullen had been seeing him only for sex. However, this man put himself so low to chase after someone who didn’t value him as anything more than a bed warmer, professing love to him.
