Nick’s eyes shone brightly upon hearing Fergus’s declaration. But soon, he laughed heartily, making Fergus crease his brows with annoyance.
Was this imbecile laughing at the face of his own death? Or did he perhaps not believe his words? Or, was he just dumb?
Whatever the reason, Fergus would make sure he regretted that laugh during his final moments.
"Oh, Cullen." Nick finally stopped laughing, struggling a bit to catch his breath. "You always come up with the wildest stories. So, what? If you’re not Cullen, then what are you? A flesh-eating creature here to harvest my brain?"
Hmph, you could keep your brain, there’s nothing much left in there; Fergus thought to himself, shaking his head with pity. It seemed his second and third deductions were accurate...this man didn’t believe his words and was too dumb to notice all the context clues.
Fergus smirked. A dumb meal also meant an easier one to break mentally.
Fergus didn’t say anything in reply to Nick, his eyes instead shifting and staying on a bright red color. Not ending there, his nails elongated into long fingers like swords, his slender figure growing even taller. He had an almost animalistic smile on his face as he looked down at Nick, cackling to himself when he grew pale with fear.
But just as quickly as he had shown a glimpse of his true form, Cullen’s form came back, as he bared his fangs at Nick with a predatory grin.
The wolf took a few steps back, his tone almost breaking. "You- what did you do with Cullen?"
Fergus smirked. It was at this moment after his victims had realized that he wasn’t who they perceived him as, that their minds went into overdrive, their flight, fight, or freeze instinct kicking in.
Interestingly enough, this Nick guy seemed to be bolder than Fergus had originally guessed, as he growled at him.
"Answer me! Where is Cullen? What is the meaning of this? Wh- what are you?" Nick’s body shivered, his hair standing on edge with alertness.
Fergus scoffed. He’d had about enough of this.
In the blink of an eye, Fergus was standing mere millimeters away from Nick. He raised his arm, slapping him on the face, swatting him like a fly. Nick was sent flying, crashing into the wall close to the dining room.
He lay there helplessly on the ground, whimpering in pain. But it wasn’t enough for Fergus.
"First off, your beloved Cullen is dead. Killed him today actually and right under the Gamma’s roof too." Fergus licked his lips with glee, his grin only increasing when he saw the horror etched on Nick’s face. "Oh, and also, in case your brain cells are still too dead to see it, I’m a vampire. But obviously, not your regular kind."
Nick slowly got up, clutching his left shoulder with gritted teeth. "Yo- you killed-you killed Cullen?"
Fergus chuckled with genuine amusement, the pain in Nick’s voice a fuel to his twisted psyche.
