Suddenly, Aceco flew into the air, her beautiful insect-like wings fluttering gracefully behind her, reflecting the light of the morning sun like a prism.
She gazed down on all the enlisted soldiers, but eventually, her gaze settled on the offender himself.
Kylo couldn’t get a good view of Drach, but he wouldn’t be surprised if he was pissing himself right now.
"You." She suddenly pointed at a spot in the crowd, obviously at Drach. "Come here."
As soon as she gave that command, something unexpected happened. Drach was lifted into the air by her magic, his face showing how terrified he was as he got face-to-face with Aceco.
After gazing intensely at the late Beta’s nephew for a disturbingly long amount of time, the fairy healer finally spoke up. "I don’t care about what you think of the fey. However, what I do care about is you sowing disorder within this camp because of your twisted beliefs."
She paused a little, scanning through the faces of all the enlisted soldiers before continuing. "The fey and wolves are in this war together, whether you like it or not because it’s our only shot at surviving against the vampires. If you’re discontent with that, then I’ll gladly send you packing back to wherever you came from."
Holy moonlight, who would’ve thought that Aceco could get so... So domineering?
The tension that her words brought was almost palpable.
Even Kylo was shaken and the rest of the camp was as quiet as a graveyard. She didn’t need to hurt anyone to prove a point.
All she did was speak while showing her true anger, and they were all forced into submission. Damn!
Meanwhile, Aceco wasn’t done yet. "Have I made myself clear, young wolf?" She suddenly added, arching an eyebrow as her gaze on Drach never wavered.
The Beta’s nephew nodded his head profusely in response, probably too shaken to utter even a word.
Ha! That serves the idiot right.
"The same goes for the rest of you." Aceco released Drach from her magical hold with a wave of her palm, causing him to land gently on the ground. "You all are representatives of the wolf and fey kind in this war. We’re supposed to be united. Act like it."
With that, she turned back, landing on the stage. "You’re all dismissed! Back to your tents, the pack soldiers will call you later for food."
The crowd of enlisted soldiers dispersed back to their tents, but Kylo couldn’t help thinking about his father and Isleen again.
He should be happy for them, right? This was what he’d always wanted for her after all. For her to find happiness in her mate.
But why did her mate have to be his father? Why didn’t she confide in him all this while? Why did they meet each other behind his back and his dad even went ahead to... To mark her.
He gritted his teeth, an overwhelming pang of jealousy surging through his body like a wave.
He needed a way to know what those two were up to right now. His dad had just conveniently left to attend to "something" in the pack. Yeah, he wasn’t buying it.
Suddenly, Cullen’s annoying voice sounded in his ears. "You’re spacing out again." He spoke knowingly.
Argh! The dude was like the proverbial ’devil on your shoulder ’.
"Thanks for the observation, Cullen." Kylo gave him a sarcastic smile as they entered their tent.
Celest and Osmond hadn’t gotten in yet, allowing Cullen to get closer to Kylo, much to his irritation and annoyance.
"Dude, a little personal space please?" Kylo wasn’t having it and shoved him away. "How many times should I say this, I am–"
"Not gay?" Cullen cut in, rolling his eyes at him. "Yeah, whatever you say Kylo boy. But you can’t deny that you’re attracted to me."
Kylo’s face flushed as Cullen walked close to him again. He tried avoiding his gaze, but it was no use.
