They were back on track in finding out if Cullen was the vampire they suspected, but Rhett only had a little problem with that.
"How will I be able to tell if an item has been touched by both Cullen and Lupe?" He asked before adding. "There’s currently an investigation ongoing in the house and I could tell my soldiers to be on the lookout for it."
Aceco blinked curiously at first but then shrugged. "I guess that means Isleen would have to be part of the investigation. She’s close to both of them so she should know."
And, therein lies the problem. Ugh!
"Isleen wouldn’t be able to handle it. She was devastated when I saw her at the scene." He brushed his hair with a low growl.
The poor girl had gone through enough. Any more trauma and he was afraid she’d have a full-on mental breakdown.
"Oh, come on Gamma Rhett." Aceco waved her hand dismissively. "You underestimate the girl. Just make her part of the investigation and then be there to guide her. She’ll be fine, don’t worry."
Rhett’s mouth parted but he was still hesitant. He’d seen how distressed Isleen had been back at his place.
She had even run off until she almost collapsed from exhaustion. She was his mate and it was his duty to protect her.
But if Aceco had this much faith in her, then maybe he should do the same.
But speaking of which...
"I’ll think about it, but now I have something to share with you, Aceco." He lowered his voice, his eyes darting around cautiously before he continued. "It’s about Isleen. She confided in me and told me about a ’special ability’. She can sense people of other races within a specific range. I believe it’s a blessing from the moon goddess but she hasn’t been able to hone this ability yet."
Aceco blinked in surprise as she whispered. "This... This is extraordinary! If she’s able to hone her ability, it could help us greatly in the battle."
Exactly! Rhett was glad that Aceco shared his same line of thought.
He went ahead to reveal that he was the ’chosen one’, hopeful that she’d have a way to help him.
"So you can communicate freely to the moon goddess in your dreams." She repeated his words thoughtfully. "This is yet another breakthrough! The moon goddess shares a connection with all wolves and can thus communicate with any of you if she chooses. But the fact that you can initiate a conversation with her... I’ve never seen anything like it."
Tell him something he didn’t know.
"What do you advise me to do?" Rhett asked. He already had a plan for tonight, but he wanted someone else’s perspective.
"Just go ahead and communicate with the moon goddess tonight." Aceco sat down again, her wings relaxing behind her. "Let’s see what she has to say. I’m sure she has an answer that’ll help Isleen hone her ability better."
Well, it was settled then. It was time he had a little chat with the moon goddess.
