Mated To My Boyfriend's Dad novel Chapter 241

Chapter 241: One Step Closer

After settling Isleen into a hotel, Rhett had to go back to camp.

He had a lot to discuss with Aceco, especially concerning Isleen’s ’special ability ’. He also needed to fall asleep and see if he could communicate with the moon goddess.

It had been a while.

After parking some distance away from the camp, Rhett walked in and had a feeling that something had happened.

All the enlisted soldiers were currently being guided by the Pack warriors to the building reserved for food.

He searched for Aceco, knowing his instincts couldn’t be wrong.

Eventually, he found her sitting in a tent that’d been reserved for her. She seemed to be meditating, her back turned to him as her wings fluttered gently behind her.

"Gamma Rhett." She suddenly muttered, taking him slightly off guard. "How are things back at the pack?"

He blinked awkwardly for a few seconds before replying. "Fine... Or maybe not. Something happened, Aceco. There was another murder but this time, at my place."

Aceco stiffened, as she whipped her head to face him. "What? By the gods, was it a fey or wolf?"

He sighed. "It was a wolf, but does it really matter? This just complicates things more especially if Cullen is our major suspect. Hasn’t he been here all day?"

Aceco shook her head as she got up. "Don’t underestimate the cunningness of this ancient vampire, Gamma Rhett. He might’ve taken advantage of a time when we were all off guard. A time when we had something else to attend to." She looked like she was deep in thought as she rubbed her chin.

Of course!

"The veil!" Rhett suddenly blurted, his eyes wide with shock. "That’s it. You were still working on the veil this morning, before dawn. He must’ve snuck out during that time and came back before the exercise."

The sneaky bastard! It was oddly convenient that the murder had taken place at his house when Cullen had lived there before.

"You might be right." Aceco nodded with a sigh. "But then again, we still aren’t sure if he’s the vampire. We can’t afford to accuse someone falsely, especially not while the other enlisted soldiers are here. It’ll bring about even more distrust among them."

Rhett nodded in agreement at first but then paused, his brows creasing into a frown. "What do you mean ’more distrust’?" He queried warily.

He knew his instincts had been correct. Something had happened during his time away from the pack.

"The werewolves and fey had a heated argument caused by your late Beta’s nephew." Aceco smiled wryly. "The wolves, or at least most of them, argued that the fey were useless in the war and would only be a liability. And of course, my people had to defend themselves but things almost took a turn for the worse until I intervened."
