Chapter 313
Reven’s POV
I sat at the table slowly, my movements stiff, my heart beating louder than the silence in the room. I toward me, his fingers lingering on the edge as if he was afraid night refuse to touch it.
I took it.
The file felt heavier than paper should. Heavy with secrets. Heavy with things he had clearly spent sleepless nights uncovering.
I opened it.
The first page read like a formal investigation record of dates, locations, and witnesses.
thick file
My brows furrowed as I scanned through the opening lines. For reasons I couldn’t explain, a faint smile tugged at my lips as I flipped through the pages.
At first.
There were details about Vera’s background. Her movements before she joined the pack. Names of people I had never heard of.
Places she claimed she had never been to yet here they were, documented in black ink.
I turned another page.
And another.
My smile slowly faded.
This wasn’t what I expected.
Not at all.
My fingers tightened on the papers as I reached the part detailing her past pack affiliations. Disciplinary records. Expulsions. Missing gaps in her history that were brushed off as “travel” when questioned.
I looked up sharply. “What is this?”
Ethan leaned against the table, arms folded. “As you can see, it’s full investigation into Vera.”

I scoffed softly and dropped the file back on the table. “Is this why you called me here? To make me read a b precious mate?”
“Reven”
“If you think this is going to make me suddenly like her, then you’re insane,” I snapped.
He exhaled slowly, clearly choosing his words carefully. “If you read it properly, you’ll see that Vera isn’t the person you’ve tagged her to be.”
I laughed bitterly. “Oh? So she isn’t the woman who threatened my room?” why are you so blind, Ethan? “That’s not what I’m saying
“Then what exactly are you saying?” I demanded.

He hesitated for a second, and that hesitation ignited something ugly in my chest.
“I want peace,” he said finally, “The full moon is in a month, Raven. I don’t want chaos when it comes.”
I stood up so abruptly that the chair scraped loudly against the floor.
“No,” I cut in sharply. “Don’t finish that sentence.”
I didn’t wait for his response. I turned and walked out, my hands trembling, my chest burning wit
Peace.
He wanted
peace while
my children were being threatened.
I stormed through the halls, my thoughts spiraling. I needed someone, someone who would listen. Someone who wouldn’t dismiss my fears or tell me to calm down.
Before I realized it, my feet had already carried me to Beta Matthew’s quarters.
I knocked once and pushed the door open, as I walked in.
Matthew looked up from his desk, surprise flickering across his face. “What happened this time?“you haven’t been in my study for a long time now
That was all it took.
I sat down heavily across from him and poured everything out: Mera’s threats, the letter, and the constant fear gnawing at
My voice shook as I told him how she had warned me to keep my hands off anything that had to do with Alpha Ethan… or she would take one of my children.
Matthew’s face darkened.
“She said that?” he asked quietly.
“Yes,” I whispered. “And Ethan keeps asking me to be at peace with her.”
“That’s serious, Reven.”
“She’s not his mate,” I blurted out.
The words hung in the air.
Matthew froze.
Slowly, he lifted his head. “What did you just say?”
“She’s not his mate,” I repeated. “She’s fooling him.”
“How do you know this?” he asked carefully.
“Because I am his mate,” I said.
Shock flashed across his face so clearly it almost hurt to see.
“Are you sure?” he asked.
“Yes,” I said firmly. “But I don’t want Ethan to know. And I don’t want him to mark Vera.”

Matthew leaned back, rubbing his jaw thoughtfully. “If that’s true then this is bigger than we thought.”
“She’s dangerous,” I said. “And she won’t stop.”
He nodded slowly. “I’ll help you.”
Relief washed over me so fast it nearly made me dizzy.
“I’ll make sure she doesn’t get what she wants,” he continued. “Whatever she’s planning, we’ll s
“Thank you,” I whispered. “I’m grateful.”
I stood and left his room feeling slightly lighter until fate reminded me that peace never lasted long for me.
As I turned a corner in the hallway, I collided with someone.
“Watch where you’re going,” I began, then stopped.
Vera.
She stood before me, looking far too healthy for someone who was supposed to be lying in a pack clinic bed.
My eyes narrowed. “Aren’t you supposed to be in the pack clinic
She smiled. “Good news. I’ve been discharged.”
