Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 199

Jonathan was forced to stop, though he didn’t get off her.

He seemed to be savoring the intimate moment. He glanced at the screen, hesitating.

The phone rang until it went to voicemail, then immediately started ringing again.

Stephanie’s eyes were hazy, her lips slightly parted. Her voice came out raspy. “You should get it. What if it’s an emergency?”

She had noticed the caller ID; it looked like someone from the Vasquez family.

When the phone rang for a third time, Jonathan finally sat up and answered it.

He seemed to be discussing something he didn't want her to overhear, because he took the phone and walked out onto the balcony.

His voice was cold. “Not tonight. I’m in bed with my wife. We’ll talk next time.”

Stephanie was speechless.

Was that how he talked to York?

She couldn’t hear what the person on the other end was saying, but it didn't sound pleasant. It was a barrage of words, and even from a distance, Stephanie could tell he was being yelled at.

A moment later, Jonathan hung up and walked back into the room. “Do you need me to carry you to the shower?”

Her clothes were in disarray, and her skin was dotted with dark red love bites.

Stephanie quickly shook her head. “Are we done?”

Jonathan’s eyes darkened, and he advanced toward her. “Are you implying you’re not satisfied and want to continue?”

Stephanie’s face flushed a deep red. She instinctively backed away, pulling a pillow over her body. “Jonathan, stop messing around. I’m ticklish…”

Jonathan pressed her down onto the bed, his body covering hers. He cupped her face and planted a firm kiss on her forehead.

“I have to go to the family estate. You go to sleep. Don’t wait up for me.”

Stephanie blinked, nodding obediently.

“I’ll have Steven drive you to work in the morning,” he added.
