Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 68

Steven told the truth. “She’s a celestial beauty.”

“Well, there you have it. You fell for her honey trap. She’s a siren,” Jonathan concluded.

Steven had been chosen as his assistant from a pool of countless candidates, yet even he had been taken in.

Jonathan's opinion of the woman soured even further. She was clearly a manipulative schemer.

After a few seconds of silence, Steven asked, “When will you be available, sir? I need to book an appointment at the city hall.”

Getting married had been easy, but divorce required a personal appearance.

Jonathan didn’t hesitate. “The sooner, the better.”

“Then… in three days? That’s the weekend, so it's the earliest we can do it.”

Jonathan simply said, “Fine.”

Early the next morning, Stephanie was woken by a call from Cecilia.

“Stephanie, what’s going on with you and my cousin? Did he take you home last night?”

Because she had been drinking, Stephanie had slept very deeply.

It was now eleven in the morning, and she was still lying in bed, her eyes barely open.

She mumbled a soft “mm-hmm” in response to Cecilia’s call, vaguely recalling that something like that had happened.

Cecilia’s voice was buzzing with gossip. “Joseph asked me for your number first thing this morning! Stephanie, you should really consider him! He’s definitely into you!”

That finally woke Stephanie up. She sat up, rubbing her temples. “Consider what? I’m already married, remember?”

“Right, that’s true. Even though it’s just a marriage of convenience, you did sign the papers. But still…” Cecilia paused. “Maybe he would be willing to be the other guy for you?”
