Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 89

“Wait, wait, wait. Your flash-marriage husband is Jonathan?”

Cecilia was so shocked she nearly choked on the steak she had just swallowed.

Stephanie placed a necklace, handmade by Maasai people from her trip to Aurelia, on the table in front of Cecilia. Its vibrant colors and tribal style were a souvenir she had brought back.

“I go on one trip, and I come back to find my world has been turned upside down. The worst part is, I have to live under the same roof with Jonathan for a whole year.”

“Why is your world turned upside down? This is great news!”

Cecilia slowly laid it all out for Stephanie. “Think about it. Jonathan is Quennel’s arch-nemesis. In all of Veridian, he’s the only one who can truly get under Quennel’s skin. You two getting married is a power couple move. You’re not losing out at all!”

“How am I not losing out? He married me for Meridian Consortium. This marriage was a conspiracy from the very beginning. Cecilia, Jonathan wants to swallow my father’s company without lifting a finger.”

That guy was so manipulative!

“Not necessarily, not necessarily. Don’t be so pessimistic. Maybe your marriage was purely his grandmother’s idea. I’ve heard some things about his family drama.

And let’s say, worst-case scenario, he did it for Meridian Consortium. So what? You’re now the first lady of Ironhold Investment Group! That’s a title countless people would kill for!

This is a merger of assets. If you play your cards right, both Meridian Consortium and Ironhold Investment Group will be yours. Who could possibly be more powerful than you?”

The phrase “merger of assets” caught Stephanie’s attention. Thinking about it, Cecilia had a point. Ironhold Investment Group's market value was far greater than Meridian Consortium’s. In the end, she might not be the one at a disadvantage.

Cecilia continued earnestly, “Stephanie, for now, just focus on building a relationship with him. Once you two have a connection, you think he won’t bend over backward for you?”

With that, Cecilia’s gaze drifted downwards. “Besides, you’ve quit your job now. You’re just sitting around at home. Why not make a baby with him!”

“Pfft…”
