On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 114

"You can go," Jessica said. "You won't be fired. But I hope you learn from this and never make the same mistake again. Women like me who live alone rely on property management for our safety. We need to be able to trust you."

The manager was so moved he nearly burst into tears. "Ms. Brown, you have my word. If you ever need anything, just call us."

After the property staff left, Jessica went back inside.

George was sitting on the orange sofa in the living room. The light from the floor-to-ceiling window slanted across his face, accentuating his sharp, handsome features. It was hard to believe someone like him was just a bodyguard. No wonder Mr. George had him impersonate him so often. If she had met him for the first time as "Mr. George," she wouldn't have suspected a thing.

"It's settled," she announced.

George grunted, his expression grim.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

He looked at her. "Mr. George sold the house."

Jessica was speechless.

"Remember when I scraped Lance Smith's car after the gala?" he explained. "The damage was pretty bad. Mr. George told me to pay for it myself. The estimate came back at around a million. He got so angry he just sold the house and used the equity I'd paid in over the years to cover the repairs."

"So… where will you live now?" Jessica asked.

"I just signed the papers on his behalf," George said. "I was about to pack my things and find a hotel for now."

Hearing this, Jessica felt a pang of guilt.

She thought for a moment. "You can stay here for a while."

"I couldn't possibly."
