On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 200

George was dead set on getting an answer, and Jessica knew she had to give him one. Her long lashes fluttered as she gave a slight, almost imperceptible nod. “Okay.”

Only then did he release her hand. “You said you were going into business with Rebecca Jones?”

Jessica took the cup and sat on a sofa a considerable distance away. George’s eyes followed her, measuring the space she had deliberately put between them. “What’s the plan?” he asked.

“Rebecca’s father brought home an illegitimate son he’s had for twenty years,” Jessica explained. “To keep her position, Mrs. Jones agreed to officially adopt him. Rebecca was completely against it, so her father kicked her out. He also suspended her from her position at the company, trying to force her to back down. But you know Rebecca; she’d rather die than give in. Right now, there’s a streaming company that’s being sold off because of the owner’s personal scandal. Rebecca wants to buy it, but she doesn’t have enough money.”

“So you want to invest with her?” George asked thoughtfully.

Jessica didn’t hide anything. “Yes. I’m unemployed, and rather than have Lance block every job opportunity I find, I’d rather be my own boss.”

George raised an eyebrow. “Not enough money?”

Jessica smiled faintly. “We were short before, but I managed to get the settlement money from Lance, so we should have enough now.”

“If you don’t, let me know,” George said. He said it so confidently, like a tycoon.

Jessica looked at him, surprised.

George cleared his throat. “I can borrow from Mr. George. He has more money than he knows what to do with.”

Realization dawned on Jessica, and she laughed. “We should be fine for now. But if we run into a cash flow problem later, I’ll ask for your help.”

“Which streaming company is it?” George asked.

“StreamSphere.”

George frowned, his voice cold. “Is that so hard to understand?”

Frank was at a loss for words. It wasn’t hard to understand, just baffling. Wasn’t he pursuing Ms. Brown? Why was he suddenly trying to win over Ms. Jones?

“Ms. Brown and Ms. Jones don’t seem to be on good terms,” Frank cautiously reminded him.

George shot him a look. “Don’t spread rumors.”

Frank didn’t dare say another word and went to do as he was told.

That evening, when Jessica returned from Amy’s room, her eyes were slightly red.
