On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 243

“Don’t do this,” Jessica struggled, “Let go of me.”

George didn’t budge. A dark bruise was already forming on her pale skin. He abruptly released her and turned his back to her. “Leave. And don’t ever come back.”

She stood frozen.

“Go!” he roared, his voice thick with pain.

The moment she turned, a single tear escaped and traced a path down her cheek. As her footsteps echoed down the hall, George suddenly charged after her like a man possessed. Just as she stepped into the elevator, he yanked her out.

Before she could react, he had her pinned against the wall, his face closing in on hers.

“Cut!” the director yelled, ecstatic.

Jessica tried to pull away, but George remained still. In her haste, her soft lips accidentally brushed against his jaw.

For a split second, the world went silent.

She gave him a gentle push, and this time he stepped back easily. Flustered, Jessica hurried away.

The director approached her, beaming. “Have you and George ever considered getting into acting? I could find the perfect script for you two. Forget those fluffy romance dramas—that’s child’s play. You two are perfect for one of those epic, tortured romances—all-consuming passion, endless angst, that kind of thing.”

Jessica shook her head awkwardly. “I don’t think so.”

Disappointed, the director turned to his lead actors. “Well? Did you learn anything?”

They both nodded vigorously. “Yes, we did.”

“I hope so,” he grumbled.

The lead actor nervously approached George. “Those few steps you took… how did you walk like that? It was incredible. I don’t think I could ever replicate that kind of presence.”

“It was nothing,” he said.

“You haven’t eaten yet, have you?”

He grunted in confirmation.

“Let me take you somewhere,” she suggested, a nostalgic smile on her face. “It’s a place my mom and I used to sneak off to when she was still alive.”

George readily agreed.

Following Jessica’s directions, he navigated through a series of turns until they arrived at a street lined with hole-in-the-wall eateries. Half the shops were already closed for the night, with only a few still clinging to life. She led him into one of them without hesitation.

George glanced at the sign above the door and fell silent for a moment.
