On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 265

Lance managed a sneer. “Planning a rebellion?”

George’s handsome features were contorted with rage. “Where is Jessica Brown?”

“It’s a bit absurd, isn’t it?” Lance chuckled. “Barging into a man’s home in the middle of the night, looking for his wife.”

In a flash, George lunged forward and grabbed Lance by the collar. The household bodyguards immediately swarmed, surrounding George with a menacing presence.

“It doesn’t matter, George,” Lance said, unfazed. “You’re just a servant of the George family. If you lay a hand on me today, not even Mr. George himself can protect you.” He let out a low, mocking laugh. “It’s a real shame. If you were Mr. George, you might stand a chance against me. But you’re just a bodyguard.”

He even patted George’s shoulder condescendingly. “A man ought to know his place. Even if you want to play the hero, you should consider your own worth. Now, let go!”

His voice boomed on the last two words, radiating the authority of a man used to being in command, hoping to intimidate George into submission.

George simply looked down, the fury in his eyes undiminished.

The next second, he shoved Lance backward, slamming him hard against the front door. His hand tightened around Lance’s throat, the veins on his arm and the back of his hand bulging like twisted vines.

Lance frantically signaled for his bodyguards to intervene. As they closed in, a team of highly-trained mercenaries poured in from outside, swiftly and silently neutralizing Lance’s entire security detail.

Lance’s eyes widened.

The lead mercenary approached George and bowed his head respectfully. “Mr. George.”

While he had never seen the man’s face, he knew the name. It was said that outside of his closest circle, no one knew what Anthony George looked like.

Still, he couldn’t believe it. “You’re Anthony George? How is that possible?”

Why would Anthony George pretend to be a bodyguard? How did he even know Jessica?

Suddenly, a small figure darted out from inside the house and latched onto Anthony’s leg, sinking her teeth into his trousers. “You big bully! Let go of my daddy!”

The bite was sharp, even through the fabric. Anthony’s brow furrowed, his first instinct to kick the little wolf cub away. But as he looked down and saw a pair of large, defiant eyes so much like Jessica’s, he stopped himself, enduring the pain.

Amy clung to his leg. “Let my daddy go! You’re a super bad guy, and I’m going to destroy you!”
