On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 295

Isabella took a deep breath, her voice ringing with such force it seemed to echo off the walls. “The child my daughter is carrying is Lance’s.”

Lance’s head snapped toward Catherine, who kept her face lowered, refusing to meet his eyes.

“I’m sure you remember that afternoon you were drunk, Mr. Smith,” Isabella continued. “If what Catherine told me is true, it happened here, at The Kensington. She came to see you, and you took advantage of her in your drunken state…”

Susan stared at Lance, horrified. Was this true?

Lance’s lips moved. “Catherine, you told me nothing happened that day!”

Two tears rolled down Catherine’s cheeks, making her look utterly pitiful.

Isabella scoffed, finally feeling in control. “And you believed her? She was just trying to protect you from feeling guilty! She didn’t want to burden you or force you to take responsibility for a mistake!”

“That’s right,” Isabella interjected coldly. “If I hadn’t seen that report, my grandchild would be nothing but a pool of blood by now! Catherine is willing to sacrifice everything for Lance. Do you think an abortion is easy? Do you think it doesn’t harm the mother’s body?”

Susan sighed. “So you’ve come here with a plan. Let’s not beat around the bush. Tell me what you want.”

Isabella sat back down. “Susan, I’m not here to force anyone’s hand. If you are willing to acknowledge the child, then we can wait until Lance’s divorce is finalized and discuss the future. If you refuse to acknowledge the child, that’s fine too. We will raise it ourselves. Our family may not be as wealthy as yours, but we can certainly provide for one child. And if you choose the latter, rest assured we will never use the child to threaten you. We will sign any document stating that the child has no connection to your family.”
