**Chapter 32**
Renee found herself bursting into laughter, unable to contain the amusement bubbling inside her.
What a ridiculous situation!
As she savored another sip of her juice, her eyes wandered over to Kayla, who seemed to be utterly captivated by Jasper, practically clinging to him like a vine. A wave of humor washed over her, and she couldn’t resist the urge to tease.
“Should I make my exit?” she asked playfully, a smirk dancing on her lips.
That simple question left Adam momentarily speechless, his expression shifting from surprise to annoyance in the blink of an eye. He froze, processing her words, before finally responding, “Forget it. You’re already here. Come on, I’ll introduce you to the CEO of Everest Group.”
“Alright then.” Renee shrugged, opting not to argue further. She rose from her seat, her curiosity piqued, and followed Adam through the crowd.
As they approached Jasper, Adam’s face lit up with a bright smile, his enthusiasm palpable. “Mr. Zeller, allow me to introduce you to my wife, Renee Whitley.”
Jasper, with his pristine white gloves now discarded, glanced between the two of them, a faint, teasing smile playing on his lips. “She’s your wife? Interesting. I could have sworn Kayla was your wife. Guess I was mistaken.”
Luke, standing nearby, nearly choked on his drink. ‘Wow, boss. You really know how to stir the pot!’
Kayla felt her heart skip a beat. ‘Oh my God, he remembers my name?!’
They had only exchanged the briefest of introductions earlier, yet he recalled her name. A rush of warmth flooded Kayla’s cheeks, turning them a vibrant shade of pink. Her gaze was glued to Jasper, captivated by his presence.
‘Wait a second, does this mean he’s interested in me? Was he cold earlier because he thought I belonged to Adam? Now that he knows the truth, could he actually reach out to me?’
She felt like she was glowing, her eyes sparkling as they remained fixed on Jasper’s face, unable to look away.
Julian, observing the scene, was perplexed. ‘People say Mr. Zeller is cold and unapproachable, but honestly, he doesn’t seem that way right now.’
