**Faith Didn’t Survive Time – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 34**
Adam leaned in closer to Renee, lowering his voice to a conspiratorial whisper. “You know, I’ve noticed that Mr. Zeller has been eyeing you a bit differently lately.”
His arm encircled her waist, his fingers lightly grazing her skin, giving her a gentle squeeze that felt both familiar and unsettling. “Come on, sweetheart. Your beauty is my pride and joy. Why not use a bit of that charm tonight, huh?”
Lately, Adam’s every action had shattered the illusions Renee had built around their relationship. But as those words left his lips, a sudden wave of cold washed over her, as if a bucket of ice water had been dumped over her head. The chill penetrated her very bones, leaving her shivering, her heart racing with an unnamable fear.
Her lashes fluttered in disbelief, her expression a mixture of shock and confusion. “W-what did you just say? I must have misheard you.”
With a playful pinch to her cheek, Adam grinned as if the conversation were trivial.
Then, with a wink, he added, “Don’t get all worked up now. It’s just my gut feeling. I can tell Mr. Zeller has his eye on you. Just look at you! You’re my wife—gorgeous, stunning, and that cool, untouchable vibe? No man can resist that.”
To Adam, a woman’s beauty was not just an attribute; it was a badge of honor, a trophy to display.
Setting everything else aside, Renee’s natural allure alone was enough to make Adam puff out his chest with pride. No matter where they went, he could stride in with confidence, knowing he had the most beautiful woman by his side. And every time he caught the lingering gazes of others on her, a smug satisfaction swelled within him.
“Just go have a chat with him. Be friendly, share a drink or two with him during dinner. That’s all I’m asking,” he urged, his voice softening as he looked down at her with an exaggerated tenderness. “You’re my wife. Don’t worry. I’d never ask you to do anything beyond that. I’m not that kind of guy.”
The very thought of sharing his wife with another man was repugnant to Adam!
Yet, tonight felt different. Jasper wasn’t just any man; he was the heir to the Zeller family fortune, a significant player in the business world. If it weren’t for that, Adam would never even entertain such a suggestion.
A cold dread settled deep within Renee’s chest. It was the height of summer, yet she felt as if the blood in her veins had turned to ice.
