Once She Came Like a Flash novel Chapter 50

**Faith Didn’t Survive Time – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 50**

In the midst of the opulence and glamour of this dazzling city, Renee felt an emptiness that gnawed at her soul. It was as if the wealth surrounding her was merely a facade, a glittering shell that concealed her profound sense of displacement.

Alcohol had become her refuge, a way to escape the relentless tide of emotions that threatened to drown her. With each sip, the numbing warmth spread through her, allowing her to finally release the pent-up feelings she had kept locked away for so long.

Despite her best efforts to maintain composure, the alcohol shattered her defenses, and soon, tears began to cascade down her cheeks, tracing icy trails that mirrored the turmoil within her.

In an instant, a torrent of emotions surged forth, overwhelming her senses. She buried her face in her hands, her body folding over her knees as sobs erupted from deep within her. Each cry seemed to reverberate through her entire being, shaking her to the core.

It was a heart-wrenching display, raw and unrestrained, as if she were mourning a great loss, as if every fiber of her being was lamenting the life she had envisioned but never attained.

It had been years since she had allowed herself to cry in such an uninhibited manner—since her childhood, in fact, when tears flowed freely and the world felt less burdensome.

Jasper, lying in the dimly lit confines of the car, opened his eyes and turned his gaze toward the woman beside him. There she was, curled up in a ball, her cries echoing in the silence like a haunting melody. His brow furrowed in concern, but the shadows obscured his features, making it difficult to decipher his thoughts.

Throughout this emotional storm, he remained silent, a quiet observer to her pain.

Luke, seated in the front, let out a heavy sigh, his voice laced with concern.

“Ms. Whitley really has it rough,” he remarked, shaking his head. “Every time I see her, she looks like she’s on the verge of falling apart. I hear the whispers around town—people say Adam adores her, that they’re the perfect couple, but it all seems like a facade.”

His gaze flickered to Jasper, a frown creasing his brow.

“Honestly, I think Adam has his eyes set on Kayla. He’s got no responsibilities, and using his wife to charm clients for business? That’s pretty low, even for him.”

Jasper’s mind drifted back to the first time he had encountered Renee. He could still picture that night vividly—her standing outside the club’s private room, an expression of stoic acceptance on her face as she witnessed Adam and Kayla lost in their own world, oblivious to her presence.

After a moment of contemplation, he finally spoke, his voice steady but tinged with a hint of regret. “She brought this on herself.”

Luke nodded in agreement, his expression serious. “You make a valid point, sir. Anyone else in her position would have filed for divorce by now. If Ms. Whitley hasn’t, it’s either for financial security or genuine love.”

Just then, Renee’s voice broke through the haze of their conversation, slurred and unsteady as she slid from her seat to the floor. “Who says I haven’t…haven’t divorced?”

Her words were barely coherent, yet there was a spark of defiance in her eyes. “I tricked Adam into signing…signing the divorce papers. And… and…”
