**Chapter 59**
Renee bit her lip, a nervous habit that had accompanied her through many tense moments. She turned slowly, her heart racing, and cast a glance back at the man still seated on the edge of the bed. His icy stare met hers, sending an involuntary shiver down her spine, as if a winter breeze had swept through the room.
Jasper looked utterly menacing.
Should she offer an apology? The thought flickered in her mind like a candle flame in a storm.
She hesitated, her mind a whirlwind of conflicting emotions.
She had just raised her voice at him, unleashing a torrent of frustration. Would offering an apology now be nothing more than a slap to her own pride?
But then again, the stakes were high. Offending him could jeopardize the collaboration between Genome Tech and Everest Group, a partnership she desperately needed.
Caught in this internal tug-of-war between humility and self-respect, Renee decided to maintain her composure. She took a deep breath, smoothing down her blouse and running her fingers through her hair to present a polished front. With a sense of determination, she walked over to the single-seater couch, the fabric cool against her skin as she settled into it.
“Mr. Zeller,” she began, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside, “now that you’re finally free, I would like to discuss Genome Tech’s innovative smart robotics project with you.”
Every indication suggested that Jasper was, at his core, a gentleman.
Renee had spent countless hours strategizing how to approach him for a private discussion about a potential partnership. Wasn’t this the golden opportunity she had been waiting for?
From his vantage point on the bed, Jasper observed her as she shuffled toward the bedroom door, her movements slow and deliberate. Then, for reasons unknown to him, she halted, adjusted her attire with a flick of her wrist, and boldly made her way to the couch. She sat down, her expression resolute, ready to pitch her business proposal.
“Heh.”
Jasper raised a hand, rubbing his temple in frustration. He felt utterly drained by her antics.
“Get. Out.”
He gestured toward the door with an unmistakable finality, his patience clearly wearing thin.
Renee had not anticipated his coldness to be so palpable, yet she pressed on, unwilling to back down just yet.
“Our robotics project has been in development for three and a half years,” she continued, her voice rising slightly with enthusiasm. “We have two major products: humanoid robots and robotic dogs. I’ve heard that your company collaborates with military contractors, and our robotic dogs would be perfect for—”
“Do you want me to call security?”
Jasper interjected, his tone devoid of interest, cutting her off with a steely glare.
