Once She Came Like a Flash novel Chapter 66

**Faith Didn’t Survive Time – by Aadi Sharma**

**Chapter 66**

“Yes, I love Adam.”

As Kayla spoke those words, she felt a weight lift from her chest, but it was quickly replaced by a tide of emotion. She lowered her hands, her fingers trembling slightly, and tears began to flow silently down her cheeks, each drop a testament to the turmoil she had kept bottled inside for far too long.

“In the years I spent abroad, I thought that being thousands of miles away from him, without a single word exchanged, would somehow dull the sharpness of my feelings. I believed I could move on, but the truth is, I couldn’t do it. I really, truly love Adam more than I ever thought possible.”

She sniffled, the sound punctuating the heavy silence that enveloped them.

“I…” Her voice faltered as she hesitated, raising a hand to wipe away the tears that had betrayed her. “I’m so sorry. I lost control there for a moment.”

“Oh, it’s perfectly fine! Now that I know how deeply you feel about Adam, I must admit, I’m actually quite happy for you,” Irene said, her smile warm and reassuring. “Kayla, let me ask you this—if I told you that Adam was planning to divorce Renee, would you genuinely want to be with him?”

Without a moment’s pause, Kayla replied, “Of course I would.” The conviction in her voice surprised even herself.

“But he’s already been married once. Doesn’t that bother you at all?” Irene pressed, her brow furrowing with concern.

“Not in the slightest! I love Adam. Just the thought of being with him fills me with more joy than I can express. It would be the greatest happiness of my life,” Kayla replied, her eyes sparkling with hope.

“Oh, you silly girl!” Irene exclaimed, her heart swelling with affection for her friend.

Moved by the raw honesty in Kayla’s confession, Irene stepped forward and enveloped her in a warm embrace, gently patting her back as if to soothe away the remnants of her tears.

“It’s my fault, really. I should have kept a closer watch on Adam and made sure you didn’t feel this way. But I promise you, this time, no matter what it takes, I will help you and Adam find your way to each other.”

“Really?” Kayla’s face brightened, her smile lighting up the room. “Oh my goodness, you’re so incredibly kind to me!”

Meanwhile, in another part of town, Renee and Daniel’s team were bustling about, diligently moving boxes and supplies into the welfare center.

They had brought an impressive array of items: four complete sets of clothing for each season, an assortment of school supplies, soft mattresses for the children to sleep on, and so much more.

Renee had even arranged for a pastry chef and a skilled cook to head straight to the kitchen, where they would prepare a delightful lunch and scrumptious desserts for the children.

Everyone was caught up in the flurry of activity, and the media was snapping photos, capturing every moment.
