**TITLE: Faith Didn’t Survive Time – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 72**
With a swift motion, Adam thrust the document into Renee’s hands, his expression devoid of warmth.
“Listen carefully,” he said, his voice sharp and unyielding. “Today’s charity event is organized by the Spencers. If you can secure the deal with Jasper, we can make a grand announcement during the ceremony later. This would not only elevate our collaboration but also put Ascend Group firmly in the spotlight.”
Renee’s laughter bubbled up, tinged with disbelief. “Adam, are you out of your mind?” she exclaimed, shaking her head as if trying to dispel the absurdity of his suggestion. “Jasper is the CEO of Everest Group! You genuinely believe we can just waltz in and finalize a contract with them like this? That’s utterly ludicrous!”
Anger bubbled within her, and she instinctively raised a hand to press against her forehead, tugging at her red volunteer vest. The heat was oppressive, making her feel as if she were suffocating under the weight of both the sun and her mounting frustration.
“What’s so ridiculous about it?” Adam shot back, irritation lacing his tone. “Jasper is the heir of the Zeller family. A collaboration of this magnitude is child’s play for him. As long as he’s in a good mood, he’ll sign on the dotted line!”
His voice took on a more commanding tone as he added, “Jasper is resting in the lounge on the third floor. You need to go to him right now!”
The contract felt as if it were searing her palms, and a wave of irony washed over her. She met his gaze, her eyes glinting with sarcasm. “And why should I take orders from you?”
That rhetorical question struck Adam like a dagger, and his brows knitted together in a frown. “Renee, you’ve changed,” he murmured, the weight of his words hanging in the air.
Suddenly, his expression shifted, a flicker of realization darkening his features. He leaned closer, his grip on her wrist tightening, sending a chill down her spine. “Don’t tell me… you’ve fallen for Jasper!”
Renee found herself momentarily speechless, the accusation hanging heavily between them.
It was clear that Adam had witnessed her interaction with Jasper earlier, and his hostility suddenly made sense.
She paused, weighing her options. There were countless tasks still ahead of her, and she couldn’t allow a confrontation with Adam to derail everything she had worked for.
With a reluctant nod, she conceded, “Alright, I’ll give it a shot.”
