Once She Came Like a Flash novel Chapter 87

**Faith Didn’t Survive Time – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 87**

Harvey’s eyes sparked with a mix of desperation and determination as he lunged forward, clutching the hem of Kayla’s dress with an almost frantic grip. “Ms. Spencer, please! You have to help me! This entire situation has spiraled completely out of control. How am I supposed to live with this? You were the one who encouraged me to go through with it! You can’t just leave me to face the consequences alone!”

Initially, Harvey had brushed off the gravity of the situation, convinced that Kayla would stand by him when the time came, especially since she had been the one to instigate his reckless actions.

But then, everything changed when Jasper, the son of the city’s richest family and a formidable player in the game, made his entrance. In that moment, all Harvey could think about was survival. He would rather face death than go down without taking someone else with him!

Kayla’s complexion drained of color as she locked eyes with Adam, whose icy gaze pierced through her like a winter chill. The fear was palpable in the air, and she felt her heart race as she struggled to maintain her composure.

“Harvey, you’re just making things up!” she stammered, her voice quavering with anxiety. “I never instructed you to do anything! You can’t just hurl baseless accusations without any evidence. That’s slander, and you know what that entails, right?”

Kayla was far from naïve. While she had indeed orchestrated Harvey’s misguided pursuit of Renee, she had never involved money in their arrangement. Her only promise was that the Spencer Group might consider collaborating with him in the future. She hadn’t anticipated Harvey would be so easily manipulated or that he would actually follow through with her suggestion.

She surmised that Harvey’s company was on the brink of gaining momentum. With the backing of the Spencer family, he likely believed he could elevate his business to unprecedented heights, which is why he had agreed to her plan without a second thought.

Moreover, Renee was renowned as the epitome of beauty in Harborview City, having been crowned the most beautiful woman in numerous online polls. Her breathtaking figure and flawless features turned heads everywhere she went, drawing admiration like a magnet.

Beyond her physical allure, Renee possessed a quiet and refined charm. Her fair skin glowed, and she moved with a soft, graceful elegance that lingered in the minds of those who caught a glimpse of her. It was the kind of beauty that left an indelible impression.

“I have it!” Harvey exclaimed in a sudden panic, frantically pulling out his phone and scrolling through his recordings with trembling fingers. “I have proof!”

In a desperate bid to clear his name, he pressed play on the recording, the sound echoing in the tense atmosphere.

“Ms. Spencer, everyone in Harborview City knows that Ms. Whitley is the love of Mr. Graham’s life. If I pursue her and he retaliates, what am I supposed to do?”

“Don’t worry,” Kayla’s voice came through the recording, dripping with false assurance. “Adam only loves me now. Look, here’s a picture of us together. He hasn’t had feelings for Renee in ages, and he’s the one who secretly gave me the green light to do this. Once it all comes to light, he’ll use it as a reason to file for divorce. Then, he can be with me, just like we planned.”
