Once She Came Like a Flash novel Chapter 86

**Faith Didn’t Survive Time – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 86**

“I always believed Adam had genuine feelings for Renee, but now it seems that was nothing more than a façade,” Daniel mused, his heart heavy with the weight of the revelation.

“Honestly, Mr. Graham must be completely oblivious. How could he let someone as stunning as Ms. Whitley slip through his fingers while pursuing Ms. Spencer? It’s baffling; Ms. Spencer is so utterly plain by comparison,” another voice chimed in, dripping with disdain.

“Adam is terrifying. I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s the one pulling the strings behind the drugging incident,” a third voice added, the tone laced with suspicion.

Daniel couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for Renee as he caught snippets of the gossip swirling around him. The whispers felt like daggers, each one aimed at her reputation.

“Officer, please, you must uncover the truth for my boss,” he implored, his voice steady but urgent.

At this moment, Renee found herself at the center of a whirlwind of chaos. Daniel, aware of the delicate nature of their relationship, refrained from addressing her informally. Instead, he opted for the more formal ‘boss’ to maintain a semblance of professionalism and prevent any unnecessary scrutiny.

Leon nodded in understanding, his gaze shifting to Renee. “Ms. Whitley, could you please recount exactly what transpired?” he asked, his tone serious yet encouraging.

To everyone’s astonishment, the police displayed an unusual level of patience today, standing calmly amidst the uproar of the crowd. Perhaps it was the looming presence of the media that kept them in check, or maybe it was Jasper’s timely intervention that had alerted Leon to the gravity of the situation.

Renee took a deep breath, steeling herself. “That man… he was dressed in a suit, tall and wiry, with small, piercing eyes. He exuded an air of refinement. When he attempted to assault me, I bit his ear in self-defense. As he howled in agony, I seized the chance to escape,” she recounted, her voice steady despite the tremors of fear that still lingered.

“Is this the guy?” boomed a voice that was rich and magnetic, drawing everyone’s attention.

The crowd turned in unison, and there stood Jasper, clad in a striking deep red shirt, his presence commanding. He had Harvey by the collar, dragging him through the throng of onlookers.

“Mr. Zeller?” someone whispered, the name reverberating through the crowd.

“Isn’t that Jasper Zeller, the CEO of Everest Group?” another voice chimed in, awe lacing their words.
