**Faith Didn’t Survive Time – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 90**
Alison dashed after Jasper, her heart racing as she reached out and grasped the fabric of his sleeve. With a swift motion, she maneuvered herself in front of him, blocking his path.
With her hands clasped together in a gesture of desperation, she implored, “Jasper, I’ve never come to you for anything before, but this time, I really need your help—for me and for my best friend.”
He raised an eyebrow, skepticism etched across his face. “She’s that important to you?”
“Absolutely,” she replied earnestly, her voice steady. “She’s the only best friend I’ve ever had. We’re practically sisters. We share everything.”
Jasper nodded slightly, his expression softening. “Yeah, I can see that. It seems like your connection with her is even more profound than what we share.”
“What? No, that’s not true,” Alison exclaimed quickly, looping her arm through his with a playful grin. “You’re my brother. No one can ever compare to you.”
Jasper had always sensed a hint of fear in Alison when it came to him. Aside from those rare occasions when she approached him for financial help during tough times at her company, she seldom reached out. But now, for the sake of Renee, she was willing to set aside her pride.
It was amusing how their personalities mirrored each other; Alison’s stubbornness was just as fierce as Renee’s.
Jasper chuckled softly, shaking his head as he raised his hand to gently push her away, feigning mild annoyance. He turned and walked off, leaving her standing there. As he stepped into the elevator, Alison exhaled a long, relieved sigh. Deep down, she was confident that her brother wouldn’t deny her this time.
Back in her hospital room, Renee stirred awake.
Alison hurried to her side, her eyes sparkling with relief. “Babe, you’re finally awake! You were bleeding so much back at the welfare center; I thought I was going to lose you. You scared me half to death!”
Renee looked pale and exhausted, her features drawn as if the very act of waking took every ounce of strength she had. The battle against the drugs coursing through her system had drained her completely.
“I’m fine. See? Still here,” she replied with a weak smile, attempting to reassure her friend.
“Fine? You stabbed yourself with a knife, and it was deep! Didn’t you think about hitting an artery and bleeding out?”
