Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 103

Yvonne jolted awake, heart racing from the dream that she was nearly tossed out the door.

Her eyes fluttered open, shimmering with confusion as she blinked, trying to make sense of her surroundings.

Wait—was Marico carrying her?

She swallowed hard and quickly squeezed her eyes shut, pretending to be asleep.

What she didn’t realize was that, in her panic, she’d instinctively tightened her grip around Marico, making it painfully obvious to him that she was already awake.

Marico paused, his voice dropping low and teasing as he glanced down at her. “So, we’re pretending to sleep now, huh?”

Yvonne’s lashes quivered. Her breathing turned shallow and uneven, but she stubbornly refused to open her eyes.

All she could think about was how she’d embarrassed him in front of his friends tonight. The thought that he might be angry made her want to disappear. If she just kept pretending, maybe Marico would let her off the hook.

He carried her out of the bathroom and gently laid her on the bed.

Yvonne waited until she heard his footsteps moving away before cracking one eye open, just a sliver.

To her horror, Marico was standing right there, arms folded over his chest, leaning against the doorframe, watching her with a knowing look.

Her eyes, bright as amber and still glistening with tears, darted nervously. But it was too late—she’d been caught.

“Yvonne, with acting skills like that, you’re really wasting your talents cleaning up the streets,” Marico drawled, eyes narrowed in cool amusement.

Yvonne sighed in defeat and gave up the charade, sitting up in bed.

She stifled a small yawn, her voice soft and tinged with embarrassment. Her clear gaze was hesitant. “Sorry… I made a fool of you.”

The gap between their worlds was already wide enough; tonight’s fiasco probably didn’t help his reputation one bit.

He didn’t get it, but let the matter drop.

Straightening, Marico walked over to her vanity. “You bought a new watch—why haven’t I seen you wear it?”

Yvonne stiffened, suddenly anxious, trying to stop him. “Wait—!”

He’d only asked in passing, but her panicked reaction caught his attention. Marico picked up the paper bag on the table.

Yvonne scrambled off the bed, but between the remnants of alcohol and having just woken up, she misjudged her balance and crashed straight into him.

Ow, ow, ow—her head throbbed where it smacked his chest. The man ran every morning, and his muscles were like steel—colliding with him was like running into a brick wall.

Marico grunted, instinctively steadying the small woman who’d practically launched herself into his arms.
