Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 117

Yvonne felt a little dazed, but didn’t overthink it. She headed to the sink, washed her hands twice for good measure, then gathered her bouquet and fruit basket and hurried to catch up.

“Bye-bye, chubby ginger!” she called out, not forgetting to say farewell to the orange tabby cat.

Clearly, Marico’s earlier words hadn’t rattled her in the slightest.

Marico slowed his pace, waiting for her to join him. He glanced back and saw her crouched by the kitten, her goodbye soft and tender.

Her fair face was lit by a gentle, fresh smile, her whole demeanor radiating warmth and sincerity—a far cry from her usual calm sophistication.

It was obvious she adored animals.

“When can we finally bring Coco home?” Yvonne asked, balancing the bouquet in one arm and the fruit basket in the other.

“You’ll have to ask William,” Marico replied.

As she caught up, Marico leaned in and, as if it was the most natural thing in the world, took the fruit basket from her arms.

He was so close Yvonne could feel the cool, crisp scent of his cologne. She held her breath and looked up at him, caught off guard by the depth in his eyes.

Marico’s chiseled features tilted slightly as he gazed down at her, clearly noticing how she’d tensed up just from their nearness.

“Thank you.” Yvonne felt the distance between them was a bit too intimate, and instinctively touched her face—thank goodness she was still wearing her mask.

“Let’s go, let’s go,” she said quickly, dropping her gaze to her shoes and picking up the pace.

Inside the elevator, Yvonne automatically retreated to the farthest corner from him, her entire body language spelling out unfamiliarity.

“Nonsense. Girls should look their best! And this ring—Marico, what were you thinking?” Mrs. Hamilton frowned at her grandson. “Why give her such a plain ring? You should’ve gotten her a proper diamond!”

Yvonne jumped in to defend him. “I actually love this ring. I prefer something simple.”

Marico, who had set down the fruit basket as soon as they entered, just looked resigned, the faintest hint of a smile on his cool, handsome face.

“Grandma, you’re looking well today,” he said. “Once you’re out of the hospital, you can take her shopping for whatever she wants. I’ll pay, alright?”

He watched the two of them—grandmother and Yvonne—chatting like real family, while he stood there feeling almost invisible.

“Deal!” Mrs. Hamilton agreed. “Once I’m a bit stronger, we’ll go shopping together. Yvonne, have you picked out your wedding dress? What kind of ceremony do you want? Tell Grandma all about it.” Her eyes sparkled with affection as she looked at Yvonne.
