Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 136

Yvonne had thought she could slip away unnoticed, but in the end, she’d let her guard down.

“You called me a rogue, said I was shameless and indecent. If I don’t do something to live up to your praise, wouldn’t that be a shame?”

She wanted to cry. This man’s capacity for both magnanimity and pettiness was perfectly matched—there was just no way to tease him without paying the price.

The moment she pushed, she was the one who suffered for it.

Marico’s sharp, handsome features softened as he looked at her, an unreadable smile playing on his lips.

What a scoundrel.

Dangerous, arrogant, and utterly unrestrained.

He held her securely in his arms, and suddenly, his big hand at her waist gave the lightest squeeze.

Yvonne gasped in surprise.

Before she could protest, his lips claimed hers, smothering her startled cry with a kiss that crashed over her like a tidal wave.

She could hardly believe it—how could he be so reckless, right in the middle of dinner?

This was outrageous!

She struggled, trying to break free, but Marico didn’t budge. Instead, he lowered his head again and, without warning, captured her lips in another urgent kiss. It was as though he was desperately trying to make up for all the years they’d lost.

His arm tightened around her waist, drawing her impossibly close. Before she could gather her thoughts, she was swept up in the tenderness of his embrace, her mind spinning, dizzier than after a glass of wine.

Only after a long while did he finally let her go.

Still caught in his arms, Yvonne felt impossibly small, like a startled kitten pressed to his chest. She pouted, biting her lip and glaring at him in protest, trying to look fierce, but only making herself more irresistible.

She leaned against him, breathless.

“Little one, how am I supposed to keep you safe, always?” Marico asked softly, lifting her onto the table, holding her in a way that was both intimate and protective. His eyes weren’t burning with lust, but clouded with worry.

“Hmm?” Yvonne blinked up at him. “Don’t frown. You don’t look good when you frown.” She reached up and gently smoothed the creases from his brow, not grasping the concern behind his words.

“I answered Xenia’s call so late—not because I was worried about her, but because the person who hurt her was actually after you. That’s why I’ve had William watching everything so closely. I was worried about you.”

Marico laid it all out, wanting her to understand, not to misunderstand.

The sudden seriousness in his voice warmed her heart.

“Actually, the reason I went to the reunion was because I ran into a classmate last time—someone who’s a key player on Xenia’s team. I wanted to find out more for you,” Yvonne confessed, her head still spinning as she poured out her true intentions.
