Marico entered the hospital room with the attending physician right behind him.
“Mr. Hamilton, you’re here!” Jessica immediately stood up gracefully to greet him, her striking eyes shining with admiration and something deeper—devotion, maybe even love.
Yvonne’s instincts hadn’t let her down: Jessica definitely had a thing for Marico.
“Grandma, I’ll wash some fruit for you in a bit, and maybe cook something gentle for your stomach,” Jessica offered sweetly. “You need to avoid anything cold or heavy right now, and you have to be careful about what you eat.”
Yvonne glanced at her own lunchbox sitting on the table.
Was Jessica hinting that she’d brought the wrong kind of food?
“Ms. Moore is truly attentive,” Edith piped up, unable to resist praising her.
The senior nurses quickly chimed in, showering Jessica with compliments about her beauty, kindness, and patience—not to mention her skill and dedication as a doctor.
Sitting off to the side, Yvonne couldn’t help but be impressed. Jessica really knew how to win people over.
She sneaked a sideways glance at Marico.
At that exact moment, Marico caught her eye—her teasing, knowing look—and his gaze hardened, clearly warning her to keep her wild speculations in check.
“Alright, everyone, back to work. Grandma needs to rest now,” Marico said, prompting the staff to finish up their checks and leave.
Jessica stayed behind, tending to Mrs. Hamilton at her bedside.
After a long morning of tests, Mrs. Hamilton was exhausted and soon drifted off to sleep.
“I’m going to wash some fruit—do you want any?” Yvonne asked the man lounging on the sofa.
Marico looked up from his phone, his eyes meeting hers. “Are you hungry?”
Yvonne shook her head, then smiled.
Before Marico could say anything else, she grabbed the fruit basket and headed for the sink.
Better to keep busy—after all, Grandma was sleeping, Edith was outside tending the flowers, and Jessica was at the bedside but kept sneaking glances Marico’s way.
Still, she couldn’t resist provoking him just a little.
Marico saw right through her ploy. Irritated, he silenced her with a kiss, capturing her soft, cherry-red lips.
“Mmmph—!” Yvonne hadn’t expected him to actually go for it.
Startled, she pressed herself back against the wall, tiny hands pushing at his chest.
But he was immovable, solid as a rock.
Seeing her cheeks flush and panic spark in her eyes, Marico deepened the kiss, his tongue parting her lips, tangling with hers. Yvonne’s face turned crimson, her eyes pleading for mercy.
She got the message—she’d gone too far.
Just as their kiss grew heated, Jessica suddenly appeared.
She stopped in her tracks, frozen in shock at the scene before her.
