Seeing the genuine warmth and relief in Grandma Hamilton’s eyes, Yvonne couldn’t help but think—Jessica really must have some talent after all.
"Grandma, do you always get headaches and joint pain whenever the weather changes?" Yvonne asked, looping her arm through Grandma Hamilton’s, her face full of concern.
"Yes, dear, it’s an old problem of mine," Grandma Hamilton replied with a knowing smile. “But with Dr. Moore taking care of me now, there’s no need to worry.”
"Everything will get better, I’m sure of it. Grandma, do you know when you’ll be coming home? That way, Marico and I can take care of you every day. It would put our minds at ease," Yvonne said earnestly.
She truly hoped this kind-hearted old lady could enjoy her golden years in good health. Around Grandma Hamilton, Yvonne always felt the warmth and affection only a loving elder could give.
“There’s no rush. I’m quite comfortable here, the environment is nice, and it’s lively with so many people around. I wouldn’t want to intrude on you newlyweds while you’re still nurturing your relationship,” Grandma Hamilton replied, her smile carrying that universal wisdom only the experienced could truly understand.
“Grandma, you always know how to make people feel loved,” Marico said gently.
Yvonne shot him a playful glare—was he trying to stir things up?
Earlier, when the topic of having kids came up, he kept silent and left her to handle it alone. Now he was getting her into trouble again.
“But I really wish you’d come home soon, Grandma. The house feels too big with just the two of us,” Yvonne added, hoping to hint that the sooner Grandma returned, the happier and livelier their home would be.
At Yvonne’s words, Mrs. Hamilton gave a little cough and suggested, “Well, if you two work hard, maybe a little one will come along and bring more life to the house! But you know, they say children are happiest and brightest when their parents are in love. You’ve just gotten married, so I’m not rushing you—just speaking offhand.”
She quickly added a few more reassuring words.
Yvonne was caught off guard hearing him say it so directly. “Are you actually serious about having a baby now?” she blurted out, genuinely surprised.
At that, Marico’s handsome face darkened, his deep eyes taking on a wounded look.
“Listen to yourself. Do you even hear the words coming out of your mouth?”
Yvonne stared at him, speechless.
“Well, what about you, Mr. Hamilton?” she shot back, flustered by the sudden turn in conversation, even switching to a more formal address in her exasperation.
